This lantern is of the typical well-made Coleman quality. Their reputation is earned. I actually bought this lantern to use indoors in case of a power outage. I love the Coleman gasoline-powered lantern for hunting or camping trips, but I hesitate to use one inside the house because of the fire hazard. This battery-powered lantern is just as well made, just as bright, runs a long time on 8 D-cells, and there is NO DANGER OF FIRE.

Product arrived fast and perfect condition. At this point still checking it out. -- But plan on replacing with rechargeable batteries. Over the ones I current put in to initial test with. Mainly in case of a power outage, and light within small room (as example).--The batteries does help to had weight to the base. And not move around like something that is to light. And like the adjustable knob or power/light level. Has a small click and resistance when put on or off the power. Seems closer to a wider 5W to 10W LED USB powered level. Except better focus due to device makeup. While still having a touch of the older gas layout.Of course dependent on type battery, usage, and power level will determine a lot. So if I can get half the estimated hours of the 299. At have brightness. And in that range with rechargeable. This work fine. Since rechargeable can be used with power stations, generators, solar, these little power banks, etc. Just have to figure in extra cost for batteries over time. And during outages, the shelves are empty.

I like this in that I do not have to worry about propane bottles or lantern fuel. Used it in a 10x14 tent and it illuminated it quite well. No hissing of course. And safe in a tent. About the only objection some people may have is the weight since it runs on 8 D cell batteries. I ran it for two nights for a total of about 8-10 hours and noticed no dimming due to battery drainage. The settings are easy to adjust just by the turning a knob. I used it during a cold weather camp out with the temp in the 20's and 30's.

Very bright and well made. Well worth the purchase. We bought for emergency lighting since short winter days are ahead and for the occasional night when power may go out. You can find cheaper versions but you are only wasting your money

This one cost a little more than others, but I really like how sturdy and bright it is. It's lighting up our hay barn quite nicely. No fire risk, as there would be with fuels. I also like that it uses regular D batteries. Easy to find and replace whenever they're needed. I think it'll be a while before we need to though.

I purchased the lantern for truck camping so weight isn't much of a concern. It puts out plenty of light on the highest setting. While the brightness knob moves smoothly as it there is an infinite variability in brightness the bulbs actually have about 7 steps of brightness. This isn't a bad thing just wanted to note. The unit IS heavy, however, as noted I use it primarily for truck camping as well as emergencies as weight really isn't a factor. While buying replacement D batteries is a bummer (I will probably go with rechargeable batteries soon) but it seems to be fairly efficient. The lantern has a robust feel to it and can handle some bouncing around in the back of a pickup. Barring the expense of the D batteries it is a good value for the money.

Always had Coleman lanterns and love them! Bright, well made and worth the money! These lanterns last a lifetime if cared for! I own a large home and rely on these when the power goes out! Led is bright and use less battery power so the batteries and led bulb will last a whole lot longer then the older floreescent bulbs Coleman made in the past. Thanks Coleman for another quality item!

This has that iconic Coleman lantern look and matches the older gas lanterns I have and used for decades. The new led version isn’t nearly as bright as more reasonably priced choices so the bottom line is you will pay a substantial premium for the vintage look.

This twin lantern light gives so much light. We have loved it when we have had the need to use it for power outages. Out here in the forest, it is really dark when we haven't any power so this is close to our bed so we can get to it quickly. Campers would really love this lantern in their tents or to find their way to porta potty's or whatever.

So grateful to have it here in Florida hurricane season has started. Funny story it arrived on a day a storm was coming. I took it out of the box thought I would be ready if lights went out. Got my batteries out ONLY 4 ! I need 8. Then the lights went out! Are you kidding me! So don't forget the batteries.
