Every time I would get ready to push the button to buy this lantern they sold out or the price whent up but finally ordered one. I was excited when it arrived and had to open up the box. When I pulled it out I found top had a spot about the size of a dime where the ceramic didn't cover and a small dent by the control knob. There were no damage to the box. I put it together and installed the mantles and fired it up and it worked great and the hiss brought back great family camping memories. Colman needs to work on quality control but I would buy it again and recommend this lantern.

Used these for years; last one finally burned out so I got this one for my kid. Chose the duel fuel model, those are getting harder to find but ina pinch they burn almost anything so you're not out of light when your cute little over priced propane bottles wear out. Not sure why the industry is moving towards those propane bottles, seems like a waste of money to buy those all the time, but I'm sure it makes Coleman a lot of money selling them. You can burn unleaded gas in these at about $2 a gallon instead of the coleman fuel that's like $10 a gallon.

For those wanting to know. I find that using the white gas camp fuel from Wal-Mart leads to better results than unleaded gas

When lighting, use a long lighter, put the flame on the brass generator in between the two mantles. No more flare up. Works great! Hopefully will last forever.

Not a huge deal but I dont see how it could get there. Pretty bright, nice warm color. Great piece of nostalgia. Definitely more involved process than anything electric. And much more dangerous. Only thing I didnt like is there is no way to vent pressure if you dont need to use it a full couple hours, or if you happen to pump it up shortly before you're done with it. You can get mantles super cheap, I got 16 for like $12. Gas doesnt cost much here about $2.60. I could probably run this all day for $2

When I first got it I was impressed with the overall performance ( using Coleman lantern fuel ) but once I tried using unleaded gasoline in it the performance went down hill fast. And even after completely cleaning it nothing changed. My opinion is only use unleaded gasoline if you absolutely have to.
