Mission: To provide short term relief for victims of hurricane disasters in the gulf coast region, and long term support in rebuilding the communities affected in the new orleans area. Common ground relief is a community-initiated volunteer organization offering assistance, mutual aid and support. The work gives hope to communities by working with them, providing for their immediate needs and emphasizes people working together to rebuild their lives in sustainable ways.

Programs: Wetlands restoration: nursery and wetlands plantings - operating a state-licensed wetlands tree farm and plant nursery in the lower ninth ward to grow and harvest plants used for planting projects. Operating and harvesting from marsh grass farm at angola penitentiary in collaboration with horticulture licensing course taught to inmates by baton rouge community college.

bayou sauvage reforestation: grow out tree saplings and plant 4,000 trees between january 1,2016 and april 30,2017.

youth environmental education and outreach: initiated k-12 wetland education program. The wetlands education program introduces students to the issues surrounding coastal land loss as well as involvement in actual wetlands restoration projects. The program involves classroom learning and hands-on experiental learning which is aligned with louisiana grade level expectations.
