Mission: Completely volunteer based, C. A. R. E. is dedicated to provide for the needs of the animals at the shelter including: medical, food, and socialization; to place animals in safe, healthy environments based on guidelines developed by C. A. R. E. ; to promote humane treatment of animals through the education of the community and to raise funds to provide for the medical care, (all shots and spaying or neutering) and food, as well as improvements at the shelter and to otherwise further the aims of the organization.

Geographic areas served: Chicago's North Shore and suburbs

Programs: C. A. R. E. 's programs include medical care of shelter animals, adoption of shelter animals, education on humane treatment of animals and the responsibilities of pet ownership, volunteer opportunities and much more.
