Mission: Our mission is to improve health and end family homelessness to make Washington, DC more equitable. We believe everyone should have good health, a stable home, family-sustaining income and a hope-filled future. Community of Hope was founded as a compassionate ministry of the Church of the Nazarene in 1975.In 1980, Community of Hope, Inc. was organized as a separate 501 (c) (3) corporation. For over 40 years, we have continued to provide essential services.
Results: Last year we worked to end and prevent homelessness for 1,244 families. 99% of families in our Permanent Supportive Housing program remained stably housed and in homelessness prevention, over 97% did not enter the shelter system. Throughout our core housing programs, 95% of families remained intact despite their many obstacles. Over 13,100 women, men, and children received medical, dental, and behavioral health services regardless of their ability to pay. In a city where access to health care is limited, especially in under-served areas, our health centers provided care and improved the health of our patients.
