"CommunityGrows has provided community development services to the Western Addition neighborhood since 1994.That is when the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Parks Group was founded to reclaim Koshland Park from rampant criminal activity. Having been successful, we created the Koshland Park Community Learning Garden and Western Addition Peace Wall. Since then, we have built, renovated and maintained eight other community gardens in San Francisco.

Programs: CommunityGrows is a non-profit organization fiscally sponsored by the Tides Center and committed to cultivating healthy youth through growing gardens in low-income, diverse communities. We are a ground-breaking organization, rooted in the Western Addition neighborhood. Since 1994 we have mentored, educated and co-powered thousands of children and youth to live healthy lives and build knowledge and skills for successful futures. Through our integrated programs -- which combine garden education, nutritious cooking and eating, and work-based learning -- over 1,300, children and youth each year acquire the necessary skills to live a healthy life for themselves, their families, and the environment. Your support helps build our capacity, allowing us to deepen our roots in the community, build stronger relationships with our youth, and increase our impact. In short, a partnership with us grows healthier kids and a healthier planet.
