Mission: Crossway Community, Inc. is a center for innovative, community-based anti-poverty solutions in the greater Washington, DC area. We promote community, creativity and learning for all families. Our evidence-based programs provide economically disadvantaged, single mothers the educational tools they need to build the social and financial networks that break the cycle of generational poverty.

Results: Since 1990 Crossway Community has served over 6,000 women in the Washington DC region. Parents report that 90% of the children who have attended our Montessori education program are above grade level in school and 70% of our adult students are currently enrolled in post-secondary education programs

Target demographics: Economically disadvantaged women in the Washington DC metro area with children under the age of 6.

Programs: Child development services: crossway community's child development services include pre-school and kindergarten programs, before and after school programs, and summer arts camp.

housing and facility operations: through an integration of crossway services within a 37 unit on-site apartment complex and work-family resource service, crossway community supports the life-skills development of low-income families and their at risk children for families across the metropolitan dc area and for families enrolled in the family leadership program. Families participate in pre-employment and employment training programs, life skills seminars, a library of health, career, parenting and economic literacy resources and a computer education cluster; first aid/cpr training, and safeserve food certification training.

Crossway community's neighborhood services offer innovative work force development activities, pre-employment and employment training programs, life skills seminars, health and safety classes, telecommuting/computer workstations; a library of health, career, parenting and economic literacy resources and a computer center; event space for cultural activities; meeting space for civic groups and other non-profit organizations.
