Having hiked many hundreds and hundreds of miles, I know nothing is waterproof! It is not, eventually, everything will 'wet down' once it meets a saturation point. I have spent days hiking in pouring rain where I wake up and just put on wet clothes to save my dry clothes. Gone are the days of buying waterproof pants and jackets. But the one thing I cannot do without is a solid poncho and windbreaker. I will hike in shorts in cold weather so long as I have a great poncho and windbreaker. I sweat a lot! So long as I have a poncho that protects me from wind and some rain, I can continue to hike. A breathable poncho will allow my body to breathe which is what this one does. It also will protect you from wind along with a jacket. Wearing shorts helps regulate my body temperature. As far as hiking, this is on the heavy side and there are more lightweight ponchos on the market but at a steep price. Not worth it in my book. This one protects me as much as it can and blocks the wind. Great product and I highly recommend it even if it adds a few precious ounces to your pack. Happy trekking!

This thing is like 3 feet wide. It gets in the way so much that I'd prefer being wet.

Bought for work....It may be a little big. But, definitely better big than wet.

Works well. It is hot to wear. Keeps rain of really well. Would work decently in winter.

I found this to work well in a trip to Honduras. It was not used for camping , only to keep dry in one of the frequent showers going from building to building. It is a bit difficult to compress to fit back into the stuff sack, but that seems to the norm for this type of product.

I bought 2 of these as a cheaper option to try for backpacking. Last year I tried 3 very expensive rain gear options from popular companies (Marmot, Columbia, Outdoor Research) everyone of those products failed to keep me dry and comfortable while on trail even though they had all the bells and whistles. I decided to buy 2 of these for this year's long-distance hiking trip with my granddaughter figuring if they failed I wouldn't be out much money and if the ripped they were easier to replace. WELL GUESS WHAT? They win over everything. They held up well with no rips or tears while doing 400 miles on the AT. In the woods and over rock scrabbles. They kept our packs dry and us dry while at the same time allowing ventilation during the very hot muggy summer weather. The snaps worked perfect in preventing the poncho from ballooning up during higher winds. It dries quickly and very durable. I will buy this again when we need it. Forget paying for things that fail but have somehow have made a big names in the industry. Frogg Togg for the win.

I like that its a Pancho, i get cool air flowing in the sides but it also keeps me dry. Biggest drawback is it is a bit fragile... so no bushwhacking, that would tear it up fast. Love that it also fits over me and my pack.I have the rain pants and top also but prefer this poncho to wearing them.

Not proud of my weight but hoping this helps someone else: I'm a men's 2XL and a women's 3XL, very short with wide ribs, shoulders, and large arms to boot. This thing is MASSIVE on me. I think it could easily be a men's 5X. It's very roomy.Product itself is amazing. I try to price shop around and this is half the price of my local Walmart. It also comes with a carry case, and easily stores under our seats in our boat. Anyone saying it isn't breathable hasn't sweat their butts off in those little cheap plastic throwaway ponchos.

For as a gift for my father to use for a rainy day when we are at the beach house in North Ocean City. I picked the color that I know he will like. Thanks It does fits.

Got 2 sets of these to use at the Def Leppard/motley Crue concert in Jacksonville Fl and they worked flawlessly it kept all of our gear good and dry. Frog toggs are the best

Went to Costa Rica and this worked perfectly. Kept me dry and was not sweating while wearing it. Compact enough to easily fit in my backpack.

Heavy wind and rain blow it up. All other rain it works great.

This is not a pretty item, but for keeping dry it really worked. Wore it in pouring rain in a rainforest thunderstorm, and everything under the poncho stayed dry. Feet need a different solution.Pro: Easy to put on, pull it out of the pouch, give it a quick shake, slide it on. For me it really helps to wear a baseball cap, preferably a waterproof one under the hood to create an airspace, reduces feeling hot in a humid environment. Nice thing was to be able to wear the poncho right over a small backpack or knapsack. The material of the poncho is rugged enough that wearing in on a rainforest trail, it did not tear or show any damage after two weeks of intermittent usage. Dries reasonably well by hanging it in the shower or patio out of the rain. Plus, you get to look at people wearing the disposable ponchos and know they are going to be totally soaked by the end of the walk.Con: Somewhat difficult to fold it into a compact shape and fit back into the pouch, laying it on a bed or large flat surface makes it easier.

We keep this in the car and in the house for easy access during sudden rainy days.
