They say you need to replace your smoke/CO2 detectors every 10 years. Our old detectors were in need of changing. We purchased these because we got a better value. These are hardwired and battery backup detectors. These also talk - if there is a fire it will say fire and if there is CO2 it will say CO2. You will know what the problem is when it goes off.

I purchased 7 total (3 combo and 4 smoke) and they're easy to install. Don't need an electrician to install and use common sense. Turn off the circuit breaker for the detectors. Connect each wire to its perspective color, using the wire nuts (optional with the electrical tape, but I rather use it), install the detectors, and you're done. That simple... One more thing, you may have to use a wire stripping pliers to extend the new connectors. They come with limited strip to connect. Piece of cake.
