My only criticism of the product is in the thickness of the tines. This makes the shorter tines hard to play with any amount of sustain and makes it difficult to tune the kalimba. Of course, some have suggested investing in other kalimbas that are better in this area, but cost several times as much as this one. This seems silly to me, though, since for that amount of money one could buy three or four of these and have the convenience of being able to change keys instantly as you could have each one tuned differently. Also, the hidden upside of the thickness of the tines is that, once tuned, the instrument is almost guaranteed to stay in tune for the foreseeable future.

In all other respects it's an excellent instrument and I'm very happy with it. The tone is excellent and very soothing, and it is a beautiful instrument even without any intricate designs or decorations.
