Nice-sounding Kalimba, easy to tune. However, metal keys began changing color (chipping layers of metal) very quickly, after first two weeks of playing this instrument, which is disappointing & frustrating, especially after spending so much money. You expect better quality as per the price. If the metal keys were better quality, I would give this instrument a better review.

I think they made it good, but it has to be cleaned prior to given it to the customer. I found a spidder web beneath the strings.

Mediocre quality, some tines have sharp ends and are chrome plated(poorly) so if I sand and smooth them the chrome will flake and become sharp again. Overall playable but barely worth the cost.

sounds good. the metal prongs are very hard to push down though. hurts your fingers after only playing it a short time. need metal finger guards!

Not happy with the keys, I'd like to replace them, I keep meaning to do that, took me about 3 hours to tune it and a two year old detuned it in 3 seconds. I love plunking these just want new keys, do you have a key source?

these keys might be a tad thick.

The instrument is beautiful and appears to be well made. As has been mentioned previously, it is very important to note that it is NOT in tune and will require some patient work and a tuner (free phone apps are available for that) to get it in tune. Also, the tounges are very close together, so is not good for large fingers. I am actually considering removing every other tounge and finding an alternative tuning.

I got this as a gift for my one year old. It was small enough for him and it had a nice big resonator chamber for it's size. I didn't know that I would have to tune it but I didn't mind. Six tines in and I hit a problem; the tine was too short to lower it's pitch enough for it to be fully in tune. It is a few cents short of being a half step sharp (it should be an F#, it is almost a G)

The excess ends of all of the tines are widely varying lengths. This leads me to believe that they might have installed the tines in the wrong order (the B has a lot of excess so maybe it was actually the F# in the wrong position).

Anyhow, you might have better luck than I did.

The kalimba I received was hardly in tune at all. I'm not sure if I can re-tune it myself by bending and shifting the pieces, but even if I can it will be a large hassle. For the price, though, this kalimba is a steal. I would recommend it as a fun, cute sounding toy for a kid, but if you actually want it as a playable instrument, you should consider upscaling to another kalimba.

Bought this for my daughter because it had more keys than the other ones that I found. She likes it but I don't think it has a very good sound. It almost sounds out of tune to me and the keys make duplicate pitches.
