Mission: The mission of the David Hochstein Memorial Music School is to provide people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities with access to excellent music and dance education in a community that nurtures and encourages personal achievement.

Results: During the 2017-2018 school year, Hochstein awarded $312,266 in need-based assistance to almost half of its students – a 14% increase from previous years.

Target demographics: Hochstein provides opportunities for children (starting at 6 mos), teens, adults, and senior citizens to receive an excellent music and dance education or art therapy within a supportive and diverse community. Enrollment at Hochstein is available to anyone regardless of age, ability, or socioeconomic status.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Annually, over 3,500 children, teens, and adults participate in our exceptional music, dance, and therapeutic arts programs.

Geographic areas served: Hochstein primarily serves Rochester and Monroe County; however, because we have a broad range of programs and services, our reach includes the 9-county Greater Rochester region.

Programs: Since 1920, the mission of The Hochstein School has been to provide people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities with access to excellent music and dance education in a community that nurtures and encourages personal achievement. To accomplish this, we offer personalized music and dance instruction led by our highly accomplished faculty and compassionate art therapies led by our team of certified therapists. To help provide equal access to our programs and services, we offer financial assistance to students/clients with limited financial means through need-based scholarships.
