The only thing I didn't like about this particular model is the clip type speaker inputs. I removed them and just soldered directly to them - absolutely amazed me when I first powered it on without it being attached to anything, I actually attached it to a trash can and was able to semi-tune it by how much and dense the trash in the trash can had. Extremely cool product.

The sound reproduction is amazing I was completely impressed. I put 2 of these and 2 other ones on my above the headliner in my car for a more immersive sound and ran them all through 300hz bass blockers cause I dont need them to reproduce low frequencies. They pack a punch for as small as they are. Very happy.

Grade upgrade for the AtGames Legend ALP pinball machine. The stock exciters were horrible, these solved the issue of poor sound and vibrating. Installed them on the inside bottom

I've built a lot of speakers, transmission line, horn, ported, motion feedback etc.The result from a simply attached driver to a board is just stunning. Sure, bass is lacking but the use of a sub is generally needed anyway.Much easier to include a set of these speakers in a room and have great sound than any previous speaker built.I will not be removing these.

He loves these and has been trying different configurations. One of the units had poor adhesive or it would be 5 stars. Now he wants some higher quality units. They are so versatile and sound great for the price.

Perfect for your highs and mids. Absolutely little to no bass.

You will need to find the right material (purple insulation is best I found) and limit the dynamic range a bit, otherwise it will buzz. The spring-loaded speaker terminals are cheap (ok for the price) but their problem is that most decent speaker cables are too thick and won't fit.

The original exciters were NOT good at all so I bought these to replace them. They work much better then the original ones but I would warn that once you've placed them down they will not come back off without detroying the little 3m pads that hold them down so be careful and place them accurately!...

I bought these to make a set of building insulation speakers and they were perfect; great sound, the self mounting adhesive worked with no issues, and just a cool project and a cool product. I'll definitely get more and try different materials/sizes.

I used two exciters each, 4 total, to make a pair of speakers. In about 15 minutes I had the layout done and cut some 1/8 birch wood for the flat panels. Took a little to stain the wood to fit my decor, and no time at all to wire. The sound of voice and guitar is very clear. I have paired them with bookshelf speakers from Klipsch and they reinforce the midrange and treble very well. I also have a sub because even the bookshelf ones don't quite pack the bass punch I like.I will say that in all types of music from rock to classical, these clarify the tone and especially the voice. Singers sound like they are standing in the room. Also, little details like a pick scratching a guitar string that I haven't heard before come out.Overall, I was impressed by the project that was on youtube for these panel type speakers and the real thing in person is impressive. Also the cost is very cheap considering the excellent sound.

I have tried quite a few different Dayton exciters for various applications. I picked these up for a medium-sized DML speaker project using 3mm Birch Ply, after the 8 ohm flat pack drivers I first tried proved to be inadequate. They hit the specs just right for RMS power requirements at 4 ohms with the amp I'm using, and compared to models with similar specs they had the best looking FR per Dayton's spec sheets, and the largest coils. The spring loaded terminals were a definite bonus.I have pushed them hard at a clean, bench-confirmed 35 watts RMS and they sound fantastic. Fair warning - don't expect or try to get massive bass from these (or any exciter in most applications). If you try to push them hard with a low frequency cutoff much below 100hz you will quickly overdrive/overheat the coils and spiders and you'll end up with blown or dead unit. I have a 20hz subsonic filter on them and they're crossed over at around 100hz with a 24db slope. These are low-mass, full range drivers and you're already asking a lot from them at high volumes. Relieving them of the low end strain makes these work 100 better in the rest of the range (And if you're building DMLs you're not going to find a substrate that gives good low end a well as a warm high end anyway). These are not magic. If you want big bass you will need to put a high pass filter on them and run them with a dedicated woofer or sub. If you're going to run them completely full range just be careful not to get too liberal with the bass knob or crank them too loud and you'll be fine.In their happy FR range, and with proper power and appropriate host surface/damping they sound excellent and will easily crank above shouting levels in a medium living room with no distortion.Properly driven they sound clean and open, with good dynamism and rendering. I have run them with everything from delicate jazz and blues vocals, to pop/rock/electronic. They get even better and brighter if you can throw some EQ at them to mitigate the dip at around 11k and the sharp rolloff above 16k, and again, to roll out the low frequencies that will want to burn them up. I am really happy with these overall and would recommend them.

This is not something that will work unless you know what you are doing. Learn a little about sounds frequency and material density and you just might surprise yourself.

Thank you to the ytbe search that showed me the dml speaker build. I had been looking for new speakers for my gaming pc and was able to use these exciters and 2.1 amp to make some. Spent under $100 total and they sound great.Got some xmp 24in x 24in panels and rounded the edges off. Sanded everything down. Painted one side and mounted the excites following the 2/5 and 3/5 rule. Used eye hooks, fishing line and command hooks to change them and was good to go.Some instructions will tell you to seal the surface of your panels with a glue and water mixture but I did not do this as I did not hear this stripe mentioned in the Tech Ingredients video everyone talks about. The $100 spend includes a subwoofer I got at my local thrift store as the bass is lacking on the smaller foam panels I used.
