You could argue a 5 star rating by value ,but there are so many woofers out there that have varying requirement for different uses. That said I have built speakers for over 30 years now, and I can vouch that these Daytons are versatile and very competitive at this price level. They work well ported or sealed, can be used as a woofer in many 3 way systems ,or as auto or home sub woofer. I made use of them for a main tower pair for stereo /home theater use. Each speaker has 2 ported ds175's and 1 sealed ds 175 electronicaly crossed below 420 hz ,set below a mid and tweeter. They are as good as many name brand factory woofers in speakers around a thousand a pair and below. Many buyers like replacing blown woofers with the ds175's which is fine- if If you understand matching a speaker to the proper chamber volume ft3. They are however capable of use in a good DIY ground up build for custom speaker building. They are not a thumping sundown audio megawatt beast but a good solid performing woofer with good extension, and tight bass accuracy ,very refined quality sound with decent power handling that works well in properly designed multiple woofer configurations.
