Mission: To provide services to child victims of abuse and/or neglect.

Results: Since opening our doors in 1996, Deirdre's House has provided over 28,000 child visits for services to child abuse victims and their non- offending caregivers.

Target demographics: Deirdre's House is the child advocacy center for Morris County where child victims of abuse and/or neglect can be forensically interviewed and digitally recorded, clinically counseled in English or Spanish, and be medically examined and treated--all under one roof--all free of charge. In 2016, Deirdre's House provided services to over 2400 child victims and their families.

Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2016 Deirdre's House had over 2400 child visits for forensic interviews, clinical counseling, and trial preparation.

Geographic areas served: Morris County, NJ

Programs: Child advocacy - includes the following programs:1.Digitally recorded forensic interviews and trial preparation - interviews by law enforcement personnel with child victims regarding allegations of abuse and neglect. Deirdre's House is the only site in Morris County where a child victim of abuse and/or neglect can be digitally interviewed by law enforcement, medically examined and treated, and clinically counseled all under one roof. 2.Counseling services - provides the following services: Individual and family counseling in English and Spanish - licensed counselors provide individual, group and family counseling to child victims, non-offending caregiver, and survivors of abuse. A comprehensive program of supportive listening, crisis intervention, counseling, case management, support during court proceedings and other case related events, and follow-up are provided. 3.DEAR (day education arts recreation) camp - provides wholesome and fun camping experiences to children who have suffered abuse or neglect or witnessed domestic violence. Referrals are provided by partnering non-profit organizations. The children select the camps of interest to them. Scholarships of up to $500 per child are provided for the summer experience. 4.SHINE (scholarships helping inspire new expectations) - a program that awards Morris County child victims scholarship funds to participate in mainstream community programs or lessons such as art, dance, music, or sports. Scholarships of up to $500 are available. 5.Healing fund - provides funding to assist child victims and their families with crisis and emergency situations, medical health and hygiene costs, and appropriate family and/or school activities. 6.Child abuse prevention program focusing on community education and awareness.
