....I pour a little bit of POR-15 fuel tank sealant inside and swirl it around so it covers all the crevices inside, and then let it sit for 2 days with the cap open. I do this with any Hurricane Lamp I buy because nowadays a lot of these types of lamps leak. I learned this from watching a video on Youtube using Por-15 to seal Hurricane Lamps.Seems like everyone complains about leaks so I thought I'd share how I deal with them. So far I haven't had any problems with leaks. The base where the fuel goes in is much wider than the one I have so it's more stable.

This looks and feels exactly like the originals. The color was perfect and looks to be very well made. Seemed a little expensive but after receiving it I can't complain.

I was born in the 50's and my childhood is filled with kerosene lamps for power outages, camping trips, and vacation cabins. As an adult I have owned about 20 or so over the years... different makes models and styles. The Dietz Little Wizard 1 is one of my trusted favorites. What I like is the larger fuel tank and the 5/8 inch wick. The 5/8 wick gives off plenty of useful light enough for a large room or to read a book by. Larger wicks give you a little more light but also drink fuel faster. The larger tank on the 1 Wizard gives you over 40 hours on one tank... so you could use this from 6 o'clock in the evening until 12 midnight for seven days straight on just one tank of fuel. The larger tank also adds more stability and weight to the base making it less likely to be knocked over. Plenty of light, plenty of fuel, and plenty stable. If you are going to have just one lantern make it a Dietz Little Wizard 1.

Fit and finish on my example is perfect, I'm sure it's original design was for spending the weekends away camping or the log cabin, it's triangular shape allows less chances of being knocked over and is very sturdy on a flat surface, it's bright enough to light up that dark corner that your mind thinks that axe wielding psycho is hiding in. I like the 48 hour burn time, should be perfect for storms and blackouts.

Great lamp. Don't know how great it will be for an emergency unless this winter we have a power outage over a day and all the battery powered lights wear out. It's cute, of course, unless you watch a lot of youtube videos and use very clean keroscene which is very expensive right now. It's a novelty piece right now until the day we really need it.

Okay, it's not a Dietz "hot blast" lantern but it is true to the style of the older Dietz lanterns we have, and have used. The basic construction appears to be true to the pattern of our 30-year-old lantern. With only limited use to date we haven't found any problems with its construction. Happy so far!

Very happy with my purchase with size and ease of use. Very small setback was having to purchase a funnel to fuel the lamp. Certainly not a deal breaker. Happy Camper here!!

Well made and very nice looking lanterns. I purchased two of these Little Wizards. Large capacity fuel tanks with large bases to stop accidental overturns.

This lantern works just as well as any other oil lamp or hurricane lantern on the market. It doesn't get that bright and it is kind of smelly when it burns, but that's just what you get with this style of lantern. If you want brightness, grab yourself an LED or gas mantle lantern. However, in my case I only wanted supplemental light when outdoors and this lantern does the trick. It is nice for lighting a walkway or path and doesn't require that much maintenance.Side note: these lanterns do leak when you tip them. This is not a problem specific to this lantern or this company, but to any lantern in this shape. I'd advise if you have small children or pets to keep them away from any hurricane lantern as mishandling them will cause the fuel to leak.

Old school charm! I like this lantern. While the metal is thinner than those of old, as is the glass globe, the flame and light are very nice. I like table top oil lamps, but the chimney holders on those can be very chintzy.I always thought the tubes on the side were decorative but recently found out they are functional. As the lantern burns, the exhaust rises out of the top but somehow creates a current to take warm air down through the tubes to the base and allows the flame to burn cleaner and brighter. I think it's called a cold blast system, but not sure.It doesn't leak, it provides a nice ambiance and the globe stayed clean after burning 32 oz of fuel.I can't comment on odors as I use it on the patio outdoors.I can't comment on durability as I've only had it a couple weeks and burned only one full tank. The metal is thin, the mechanism to raise and lower the globe seems chintzy as is the knob to raise and lower the wick but all work. It is easy enough to remove the glass globe to clean, if needed. For the materials, I think it's a bit pricey. But, if treated kindly and it holds up, it'll be well worth it.

One of the best lantern choices you can make, especially when you need a long lasting light source. This lantern has a large reservoir. And a smaller wick. Somewhere I saw it rated for 70 hours run time off one tank of fuel!

The little wizard was so far the best constructed of all the Dietz models I purchased. Plenty bright for me would definitely purchase again.
