Old school charm! I like this lantern. While the metal is thinner than those of old, as is the glass globe, the flame and light are very nice. I like table top oil lamps, but the chimney holders on those can be very chintzy.I always thought the tubes on the side were decorative but recently found out they are functional. As the lantern burns, the exhaust rises out of the top but somehow creates a current to take warm air down through the tubes to the base and allows the flame to burn cleaner and brighter. I think it's called a cold blast system, but not sure.It doesn't leak, it provides a nice ambiance and the globe stayed clean after burning 32 oz of fuel.I can't comment on odors as I use it on the patio outdoors.I can't comment on durability as I've only had it a couple weeks and burned only one full tank. The metal is thin, the mechanism to raise and lower the globe seems chintzy as is the knob to raise and lower the wick but all work. It is easy enough to remove the glass globe to clean, if needed. For the materials, I think it's a bit pricey. But, if treated kindly and it holds up, it'll be well worth it.
