Mission: The DAV National Service Foundation develops financial resources for the assistance, aid, maintenance, care, support and rehabilitation of sick and injured veterans and their dependents, either directly or by contributions to the service programs of the Disabled American Veterans National Organization or its Departments and Chapters.

Target demographics: Just as our troops provide cover for the wounded on the field of battle, we must provide cover for those who come home sick and injured.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Thousands

Geographic areas served: Nationwide

Programs: Founded in 1920, DAV has become the most trusted advocate for the veteran population by tirelessly serving our nation’s injured and ill veterans. The DAV National Service Foundation (NSF), incorporated in 1986, plays a special role in providing the long-term financial stability necessary to support DAV at the local, state and national levels. A core mission of the Foundation is to support DAV in being there every day to meet the immediate needs of our veterans. This includes free, professional assistance with disability claims and benefits, free transportation to and from medical appointments and many other services vital to veterans and their families. Increasing the public’s awareness about the Foundation is extremely important. When the American people know about our efforts, they gain a better understanding of the needs of ill and injured veterans and their families. Their hearts and minds then become open to helping the Foundation ensure that these veterans are properly cared for in the long term.
