Mission: To provide shelter, quality care, and compassion for all animals entrusted to our care. To seek suitable forever homes through adoption, or placement in reputable rescue groups and other animal placement organizations. To measurably reduce companion animal overpopulation and to take a leadership role in promoting humane values for the benefit of all animals. To improve the welfare of the animals in our community through education and promote a positive and compassionate human-animal bond. To work together with other organizations to prevent cruelty toward animals.

Results: So far in 2020 (through September) we have accepted 23 cats and 35 dogs from Doddridge County Animal Control; accepted 36 cats and 21 dogs from the community; had 5 kittens born at the shelter; adopted out 44 dogs and 34 cats to 11 counties in WV plus Pennsylvania and Ohio; sent 3 dogs to rescue/sanctuary organizations; helped numerous community members with dog and cat food; doubled the size of the shelter’s Catio; provided low cost spay/neuter for 290 dogs and cats. Had a very successful dinner fundraiser

Target demographics: promote spaying and neutering of pets.

Direct beneficiaries per year: We provided low cost spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations for 199 dogs and 202 cats. In addition, we adopted out 88 dogs and 122 cats.

Geographic areas served: the community of and surrounding Doddridge County, WV.

Programs: vouchers for low cost spay/neuter services at area veterinarian offices; feline neuter clinic monthly at the shelter; no-kill shelter for unwanted animals.
