I have been using external HDD's for a couple of decades now but... this one flummoxed me for a minute. I used to work in a production environment where the drive would be semi-stationary and the computer would be changed out occasionally. You would dismount the drive from the computer but the HDD would stay on. Plug in a new computer and away you go... So every external I have used would power up when you turned it on, plugged in or not. Not this thing. I chose the right power plug adapter, slid it on, and plugged in the drive. And nothing. Couldn't figure it out. Dead as a doornail. Seagate doesn't manufacture sketchy-ass stuff, so what's the deal? What finally clued me in was that thing did not have a power button. What the f? What turned it on or off? Ohhhh, maybe the data cable has to be plugged in? I was reluctant to try this because to integrate it into the morass that my external peripheral situation would have been very aggravating if that wasn't it. Finally I remembered that I had a Macbook Pro that I don't use very often, and maybe I could test it with that. Sure enough, plugged it in and it worked like a champ. There is no mention of this, anywhere in the documentation, however, which would have been nice. May update this with real-life results, but I'm not too worried at this point.

This hard drive was pretty solid but after 8 months of having it and reaching 4tb od data on it, it's choking and causing freezing. I ran test on everything to make sure it wasn't a Corrupted file and had the data sitting on another hard drive for a week now and it works fine. Seems like it can't actually support the capacity it claimed.

Only thing i can say against is the small cord, other than that it hooked right up, mated right up and works like its supposed too. If you need Xbox storage this works

Works great. Study casing and fast. Works with USB 3.1.

Bought this in 2019, and it still runs like its new. Doesnt get hot at all. Looks great, Plug in play, Only thing you gotta be aware of is putting games on it when using it on pc or console. Of course internal is the best way to go but when it comes to saving money, it works well.

Finally a backup drive with enough capacity. I had 3 others that I was able to replace with this one drive. I am very happy.

I actually love this storage device bc I can move my games without uninstalling them I have another I bought long ago and it helps me store my Vids for YouTube yay I actually recommend these devices 10/5 stars for me

Needed a external drive to move data to a new computer and this worked great. It's not going to win any speed test, but that's not why I bought it.

This is the first time I've had this happen, but mine failed about two weeks after purchasing with only light and normal use. Write speed began to slow down (could watch it happen) until it would no longer write normally. Likely a lemon/defective item.

I thought i bought a hub but i clicked on theweong button next to the hub. Choice. For$5 more the hub version is a better choice snd I am having a hard time getti g window to accept it

Very needed! Bought this at a time my computer ran out of space because I shoot content and edit alot. I still use it now.If you need to make space on my computer or for what ever else I recommend this!It's an easy on the go type of product. You can access all the info you need to with just plugging it in to another computer/laptop you need.

well I just got it today and it works great so far with my PS4, after formatting it went down to 7.35 TB still a huge amount of storage space imo, it's not loud can barely hear it, it does have some weight to it tho....I recommend it, definitely worth it
