We have multiple dogs and one just would not stop getting in the trash when we left. I got this can and it stopped them without issue. The lock is great for dogs. My dogs have never gone as far as knocking the can over but the lid would probably come off if they tried that, but the lock works great.The odor filter was just useless. The one that came with the can lasted a few days and didn't actually absorb smells, it just masked them. I ordered replacements but they didn't absorb either.The sensor itself was great for about a month and a half but it one day just stopped. I did all your basic troubleshooting steps, so no I didn't just have dead batteries. The sensor itself still activated but it sounds like the motor just stopped working so of course, no motor no lid lifting.If the lid doesn't give out, and your dogs aren't terrorists, and you aren't worried about a normal trash smell, then this is actually a really sturdy can and the locking lid is still a plus even without the motor.UPDATE:: The product comes with a 1 year warranty so after reviewing it I went to their website and told them the issue. They responding quickly, first giving me a way to reset the motor if it was able to be reset, which it wasn't, so they quickly put in an order to send me a replacement lid. Great customer service!

I bought the adapter to this can to make it less gross from changing batteries. It's a small and slim can but I love that you just wave your hand over and it opens. I also have a dog who is too smart for his own good so we lock the can regularly from him knowing how to open it himself.

Who would've thunk that I would love a trashcan! Not me, but the fact that I laid out some considerable dough for one it should at least interest me.I had a white plastic Rubbermaid where the handle broke off and my husband put in a screw and that was our handle to open the lid for years. It held on to stains and I was just tired of drippings falling on the lid with manually having to use my fingers to open it up. Now with this beauty, that's a thing of the past. The liner ring keeps it all nice and tidy and clean looking. The odor absorber keeps odors trapped even when opening the lid. The sensor is great, it doesn't open unnecessarily for most daily use. I like that it can run on battery for approx. 1 year or can be plugged in through the power adapter, which I also added just in case.

It doesn't close on sensor, you need to wait 10 seconds and it close by itself.

Smaller than I had hoped, but works.

First of all, we bought 2 of these. I wanted a garbage and recycling vine that held a significant amount but wasn't an open top. I have it so they're next to each other along the side of the counter and it's the perfect size and the lids open whichever way I want. I spent way too long looking for a garbage can that fit in the narrow space that held a 13 gallon bag. So we bought these. They're obviously great. Except the dent. Was it there before? I'm not sure. My husband immediately hated them with a passion because there wasn't a container in there to pull out the recycling. He made a container (recycled a cardboard box for the recycle bin) to fit into the van and now we can pull it out to throw empty out the recycle without banging the expensive can on the larger one outside. The one thing I really don't like is the part that juts down into the can, I think it's the charcoal absorber. It's just a nuisance and is one more thing to tweak. We labeled them with magnetic recycle and garbage signs so I guess they're not truly stainless steel, probably brushed nickel if that bothers you. I personally hate the stainless I have and despise dealing with the fingerprints, no fingerprints on this. We have yet to put batteries in it. They need a lot of the expensive batteries and to they're not necessary, it just requires pulling up and then pushing down so I don't really care. I like them, I'd buy them again, but I still think they're overpriced.

We have ordered these several times, and really like them while they are working. The longest they have lasted was a little over a year. We cook pretty much every night though.

This trash can is suitable for home use, but the sensor is too sensitive. The lid will automatically open if anyone stands in front of it. In addition, I only give 4 stars for the design of the appearance.

I like this trash can, but I have ordered 2 of them and both lids have broken. I am very frustrated that after about a year, they each have broken and no longer are motion activated.

I don't have the odor filter installed, basket gets emptied every 3-4 days. Sensor is great, we love this thing.

Good for the average kitchen, used D batteries, motion activated so it will open automatically if you have a pets also does not come with an a/c cord

I have loved this trash can since the day I bought and was disappointed when it suddenly stopped working less than 5 months later however after contacting customer service they are sending me a new lid. So happy with my purchase/ experience!

Only had this for a short while but it's been pretty solid so far especially for the money. The cap is definitely a cheap plastic material but gets the job done. Has good looks and the motion detection is very responsive. You can notice some odor when it opens but it's not horrible.

Once you learn where the motion detector is activated, it is easier to control the opening. Where I have the trash can located in the kitchen causes the lid to open even when someone is walking by. Using the adapter instead of the batteries help the activity last longer.

Great product EXCEPT the sensor is too sensitive to motion nearby and yet dies not as easily detect attempts to actually move to open it. Aside from that it is great. The COSTVO white kitchen bags fit perfectly and are held very well in place. Bags are easy to fill to capacity. Fortunately the in/off switch on the back is easy to reach. So when working in the kitchen near it I open it and switch it off until I am finished. Good value.

I love the motion detection but sometimes slow to open and too quick to close. Haven't found the charcoal inserts for it yet. So far has lasted 2 months on the charcoal. I put cut onions in the trash and the odor did not come out of the can!
