The fit was a little baggy, but my wife hand washed it and it shrunk down to a perfect fit. To repeat what others have said, pulling the strap to a good fit for me, means obscuring the "N" in "VETERAN". Also the lettering is a bit large and placed high, so "US NAVY" isn't visible unless you're short or you tilt your head down.

Nice hat. I really like the design. Only issue is, when you tighten up the syrap, it starts to cover the words to where part is cut off.

I wanted something special for this Veteran's Day and saw this hat. The reviews that I read were pretty much what I saw for myself: fits close to the head but not tight and the word VETERAN on the back does turn into VETER once I adjust the band. But all things considered I am happy that I purchased this one and am anxious to wear it this Friday and beyond.
