Mission: Education and Hope is a nonprofit organization empowering change through education and healthcare in the Western highlands of Guatemala. Founded on the belief that education is a fundamental human right, and that all the world’s children deserve to be educated, we strongly believe that education is the most effective agent to truly break the cycle of poverty and improve health, gender equality, peace and stability.
Results: Since 1998:3,318 Educational Scholarshhips, 1,741 After School Enrichment students, 913,116 Meals served, In 2017, Education and Hope turned out six high school graduates, and we have five new university graduates, including a nurse, a doctor, an educator and two with degrees in business administration. 2017 we even boast our first ever US scholarship recipient! A graduate of Berea College in Kentucky. We served over 32,000 nutritious lunches, provided 205 comprehensive scholarships, and 15 children were fitted for eyeglasses for the very first time.
Target demographics: Children, adults and community - Focused on strengthening core life skills through educational achievement, after-school programs, nutrition, health care, metal wellness, safety, empathy and self-respect. Together through passion and perseverance, we have created a community of change-makers ready to change their world and the world around them.

Geographic areas served: Guatemala - Established in 1997, Education and Hope has been fiercely dedicated to providing children, young adults and families from indigenous and poor rural villages surrounding the city of Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala with enriching opportunities aimed at building academic performance, positive behavior change and emotional resilience.
Programs: Education and Hope nurtures the whole child by providing educational scholarships, academic after-school enrichment programs, nutritious meals, access to hot showers, health and mental wellness. We provide whatever is needed - school supplies; educational materials for teachers; clothing, shoes and nutritional support for several families of orphans; periodic distribution of "hygiene kits" (soap, towel, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste); educational discussions on nutrition and family health for the mothers of the students. Anything and everything to help our kids thrive.
