Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals, Children & Youth, Education, Youth Community Service Clubs

Mission: The Edwards have been rescuing and rehoming animals for more than 30 years. Their lifelong love for animals, more than 50 years of teaching experience in the public schools, foster parents to more than 30 high risk juveniles, and work with special needs individuals had resulted in a strong presence in the community to educate people about animal care.

Results: Edwards Animal Rescue has taken in many and varied animals and most have been adopted out into loving homes. Others who have extensive medical and care needs will remain here in sanctuary for the rest of their lives. Some of the animals in our care have been Zebu from the Denver zoo, plus hedgehogs, horses, llamas, goats, alpacas, sugar gliders, cats and lizards.

Target demographics: Our animals come to us from referrals throughout the greater counties of Denver, Douglas, Elbert and Arapahoe counties.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Varies by year. This year we've taken in numerous rescues and placed 7 goats, two alpacas, 6 llamas, 1 cat, several waterfowl.

Geographic areas served: Front Range of Colorado

Programs: We rescue and educate. It is our goal to make sure each adoption is a perfect fit. We also educate the public on humane treatment of domesticated animals.
