I was looking for something that would help a 3-year-old learn to sort shapes, colors, sizes; learn to serialize items or organize them, count them, and so on. The fact that the items are a variety of vehicles was the frosting on the cake! The little guy loves them, and his 5-year-old brother does, too! Even the 1-year-old baby likes to pick them up and put them back in the container. (I only let him play with them when I am present, though he is not putting them in his mouth, and they are too big to swallow.) The 3-year-old has spent as much as an hour using them in ways listed above, and he even discovered that the lid of the container makes circles in the carpet, like cutting out cookies. For a child who ususally gives any toy about 15 minutes of his time, this container of vehicles is almost a miracle to behold.

My two year old Grandson loves just dumping them out all over the place....but he is learning his colors with them and is learning to make groups by patterning by color or by item. Good math manipulative that will be useful for when he starts school and is learning adding and subtracting. He loves the boats, cars, planes, trains etc. Very durable. If your toddler puts things in their mouths, they could be choking hazards so don't let them use them by themselves.

My son loved the counters and it’s a great visual to get him doing his math work. Price was good compared to shopping at “The Teacher Store”, where prices are more expensive.
