Despite being made of steel, this hammer has a balance wegthed towards the head, yielding more impact for its weight than a hammer with more eight towards the handle. This helps to drive nailes with less force, and absorb more of the impact leaving less wear and tear on the elbow. When I was younger I used a heavier Estwing (20oz) but as I pass 70 and do not hammer all day, I like the 1g oz better. This is the knd of tool you can use for a liftime and then pass on to a daughter or son. Aside from its objective quality, it just gives you pleasure when you hold it. There is something about a top line tool.

This is a great hammer with a classic look. One of the last companies still manufacturing their product in the USA. You can buy cheaper, but this is a quality American product made by American workers.

Wanted a lighter hammer for the shop as I generally drive finish nails and smaller fasteners. I tend to choke up on my big hammer most of the time so the shorter handle works well for me. It's a nice hammer, well designed and constructed. And it's made in the USA! I have no doubt this hammer will be around a long time. I may go ahead and order a big boy too.

Firstly, I only have Estwing hammers. They are the best. This is my 5th. I've been using E-hammers since I first started building stuff as a young-ling. I started with a hand me down from my grandfather, these things last. The reason I chose this leather grip hammer is I love quality tools, and I love to hammer. I also love to pick up this hammer and admire its true beauty. This hammer will make neighbors, family members, and even everyday master trade folk jealous when they see it. They all say “Ooooooh.” That is very important to me as a hammer enthusiast. This hammer will bash out a wall, drive a big ol' nail, or hang a dainty picture better than the best of them. Probably even better because let's face it; When we look good, we feel good, we hammer good. 5 stars!

So few things these days are made like they used to. And if they are, it's by some tiny hipster shop charging a premium. This hammer is an exception in that it is exceptionally well made and exceptionally good value. I gusss that makes it... exceptional. Oh, and it's comfortable, does its job (I mean, it's a hammer) and looks great to boot. What more could you want?

Excellent hammer. Estwing. So the quality is great. The leather handle really looks good. And it doesn't weigh a ton. I install cabinets, so I dont need a waffle head 24 or 28 oz framing hammer, for sure. And if I run across a nail that I cant drive with this hammer, its time for me to retire.

An excellent hammer. I've wanted it for years. Extremely well made. I'm tired of the handles loosening. This won't happen. Head and shaft are one piece. Still made in America.

More than a hammer, like holding a functional, beautiful American piece of art. This hammer will last for decades. If Estwing made food I wouldn't eat anything else.
