We homeschool and did horizons for kindergarten, with my twin girls, which really does nail those phonics rules down (it was definitely challenging). So this year I wanted to switch it up and Evan moor always does that for me and this phonics book was great to reinforce all those rules we learned last year in the horizons curriculum. It has them do handwriting but it's not overwhelming and a deterrent from Their enthusiasm. We did sail through this book and are actually doing the 2nd grade phonics book from Evan moor and I think its thorough enough that my girls are super set to reading and writing. (horizons really was our kick starter, just fyi)

The entire Evan-Moor curriculum is excellent and this is no exception. This critical material is handled in a way that presents the important foundational information in a way that encourages the student, guiding them step by step to proficiency. The cartoon drawings are engaging (I let the kids color them as long as they are working) and the students move at their own pace. Highly recommended, especially for remedial, ESL or homeschool.
