If you've ever tried sewing a big piece while using embroidery hoops, you'll know the struggle: puckered fabric, having to re-hoop your fabric too often making it loosen every time..This thing changes all of that!!I'd highly recommend using this with a craft holder, as it's not easy to hold otherwise.

I use scroll frames for nearly all of my cross stitch projects. I prefer them to q-snaps, but sure like the taughtness of qsnaps - so I was interested to try this set of Handi-Clamp scroll rods out. They are FANTASTIC. I am a convert. NOTE: the multi-size kit has 3 sets of rods but only 2 sets of sidebars and knobs. Most stitchers likely have plenty of extra side bars from other sets - BUT they may or may not have large enough holes for the Handi-Clamp system end screws. So just be aware. You will also need to buy an additional set of the specific knobs for this system if you want to have 3 projects mounted at once.

I haven't used this yet, but according to the reviews, this is just what I need for my first needlepoint project. It seems easy to assemble and use to keep my canvas taut. All pieces are straight and of quality wood.

I previously used bars that you actual had to sew the project to the fabric. Too time, not easy, but kept the project very taut. Then I used the bar/clamp system that had a split bar and screw to clamp. That was very difficult to align properly and keep tight. Quit that real quickly. This Edmunds handi-clamp is very easy to use and align properly, and takes very little time. The only issue is that it doesn't keep the project as taut as I would like, but good enough. The other thing that only time will tell, is that the plastic clamps and whether the will lose their tightness over time being taken on and off. For now, love it (mostly). I would buy again.

Great to have the various sizes available. Not enough hours in the day to do all the projects I want! :)

One of the upsides to using a scroll frame is that you don't constantly have to move around your frame as you work. I love that about this item and when I do need to adjust, it's super simple and fast. It also does not damage any of your stitches. This frame also holds your fabric nice and taught and doesn't slip like some PVC frames do. The downside is that it does take time to get used to holding it (if you don't have a stand like me). Sometimes it can be awkward to hold.

The bars are a tad bit off which makes rolling the needlepoint canvas a little difficult. The knobs don’t hold so I am constantly having to tighten them.

I have only ever previously used split rail cross stitch frames and finally decided to take the plunge and get this and oh my gosh these are 100x better than any split rail apparatus!! It keeps my work sooooo much tighter! If you're considering making the switch I highly recommend these!

I'm using this for a needle point project right now and it's help a great deal to keep the canvas straight. It can be awkward at times to hold it and stitch. I'm think about buying a stand for this as well

These are well made and work well. I almost returned them, though, because the first time I used them I just couldn't get used to how it felt stitching with a frame (as opposed to holding the linen in my hands). I gave them a second chance on a smaller project, and I am really liking them. I use the smaller pieces - I'm not sure I would ever need the larger pieces for cross stitch since I don't have a floor frame.

As reviewers mentioned, the PVC tubes are very tight to begin with, but they do get easier to put on and take off over time. The first few times I tried to take them off, I thought I was going to lose a fingernail, but I used a small screwdriver to help me pry them off. Now that I have put them on and taken them off about 20 times, they are a little easier to work with.

This is exactly what I hoped it would be. It is easy to add the fabric and keeps it taut. It makes working on my projects so much easier.

I like the frame set for the convenience but the knobs keep coming loose. In fact one of the knobs fell off and I had to look for it.
