The locking gate is a little hinky. Not smooth and sometimes jams up. Did not stretch or deform while bearing 200 lbs.

Definitely feels solid and the locking mechanism usually takes me two hands to open I don't quite have the dexterity to consistently use one hand to open it. I used to wear my old one on a lanyard around my neck, but this one is noticeably heavier so it went to my keychain instead. I haven't had to test its load rating, but it seems legit. I gave the second one (it came as a pair) as a gift. Looks great and has its own little bag it comes in. Would definitely buy again.

I have tried so many different clips to keep my dog tied up in the yard, but she is exceptionally good at figuring out how to get out of every single one... Except this one... I can't vouch for the strength of these clips because they are easily strong enough to hold dog dog, but they are easy to use and they feel very strong.

Whether you trust your life to this product or not is up to you. But I can say from experience that these are terrible when running across a rope bridge. The deep angle of the top part of the carabiner means that if you try to spin around and go the other way (which may very well be a necessity in real life) it causes it to bind on the rope and makes it very hard to move. Not only that but if you know about improvised Swiss seats.....ya buddy, that twist caused by the binding? No thanks.Do yourself a favor and buy the Black Diamond carabiners.
