Results: Background & HistoryFamily Health & Support Network, Inc. (FHSN) is a private nonprofit 501 c (3) corporation established in 2003 by founding members, Sandra Austin, Robbie Peer, and Michael Scott. The organization was created in response to a Riverside County Department of Public Social Services’ Needs Assessment identifying quality ‘certified’ foster family homes in the Desert Region of Riverside County as a priority. Foster Care Services:In May of 2004 FHSN was granted licensure from the State of California to function as a Treatment Foster Family Agency (FFA), therefore allowing the organization to engage in the recruiting, certifying and training of, and providing professional support to, foster parents, or in finding homes for placement of children for temporary or permanent care who require treatment level services. In June of 2018, Family Health & Support Network, Inc. received licensure from the State of California to provide “Intensive” Services Foster Care (ISFC). FHSN Serves foster children/Non-minor dependents (NMDs) regardless of age, ethnicity, culture, gender, or sexual orientation. They usually have an open Social Services/CWS, Probation or AB 114 School based case, but can be privately referred and require a foster care placement either as a treatment alternative to institutional or group care or, require specific services and supports necessary to move them quickly to permanent placement or independence. National Accreditation:In January 2018 FHSN embarked on a comprehensive self-study of the internal operations and the programs and services offered by the FHSN corporation under the direction of the Council on Accreditation (COA). The Council on Accreditation (COA) is an international, independent, nonprofit, human service accrediting organization. The Council on Accreditation (COA) partners with human service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying, and promoting accreditation standards. COA envisions excellence in the delivery of human services globally, resulting in the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. Accreditation is how FHSN strives to champion quality services. In December 2018 FHSN received certification by The Council on Accreditation until 2024.Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) Programs and Services:In 2011 Family Health & Support Network, Inc. was approved to provide the culture-specific Prevention & Early Intervention program for boys “Building Resilience in African American Families” (BRAAF) funded by Riverside University Health Systems – Behavioral Health.
