Mission: The mission of Family Violence Prevention Services is to break the cycle of violence and to strengthen families by providing the necessary tools for self-sufficiency through delivery of emergency shelter, transitional housing, education, effective parenting education, and specialized intervention with youth and the elderly. Established in 1977, FVPS serves over 8,000 victims of domestic violence, primarily women and children, annually with a comprehensive range of services that foster long-term stability and freedom from violence. Intervention with children is a priority, in order to heal families and stop the intergenerational cycle of violence.
FVPS operates the Battered Women and Children's Shelter, offering 24-hour crisis intervention and emergency shelter; individual case management services; professional counseling; parenting education; on-site school (Pre-K-12th Grade) and primary medical and dental care; literacy and computer literacy classes; and legal services.

Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1979, and donations are tax-deductible.
