Pretty neat. There is a sharpener and it's built into the eraser, so although this 'lead' is super thick, the point of the lead actually writes quite sharp. And because the lead is so large and the angle of the tip what it is, it seems like the lead won't break under stress and handling. Just what I needed in terms of a tough lead pencil. Comes with red and a couple other colors. Will probably last quite a time before I ever have to order more leads.

This is a pretty nifty carpenter's pencil. Unfortunately, I lost it just as quickly as I lose the freebie pencils they give out at the lumber yard. I ave a terrible time with losing pencils and measuring tapes. I swear that if I ever find all of them at the same time, I'll have a couple of dozen measuring tapes and about a hundred pencils!

great pencil found the sharpener under the cap nice surprise. The only issue I have is with the eraser, it pops out while working found it three times and then lost. Needs to have a snugger fit or some sort of compression fitting to hold in place.

The eraser came off on the first day. It's a good pencil, nothing great though. It's great for soft woods, but marking on rough material the lead breaks easily.

Best mechanical pencil ever! I also have a 2mm one which rides in the same pocket and the lead gets broken constantly. This 5mm lead is tough but without being a harder lead.

Writes well and I love that there is an eraser. (it seems like this is the only pencil of this type that offers one) My only complaint, is the clip; slides off pretty easily. I lost mine within 2 weeks of receiving it. Oh well.

This is just an old fashioned lead holder. It's only barely mechanical. Push the button and the lead falls out unless you're ready for it like with the oldies. The fat leads may be good for carpenters, etc., but they're fun for play: hang the blunt end out and express yourself!

I don't know what these reviewers are talking about...I just tried the eraser end every which way and it simply does not sharpen the pencil

I was kind of hesitant on getting this b/c of reviews, but after getting it and using it, I love it. I'm no carpenter so I'm not constantly using it, however I am using it occasionally for hobbies and it's great.
