I have two trimmers, this unit and the less expensive Band-Itnbsp; Band-It Edge Trimmer (33437) . The Band-It trimmer has one distinct advantage over this one - the Quad Trimmer will jam if you're attempting to trim a strip that's a little too wide. My wife and I were working on 1/234; birch plywood, and all I had on hand was 7/834; banding. We ended up with about 1/834; of surplus band on one edge, and about 1/434; on the other. Both trimmers did okay on the 1/834; side, but the Band-It handled the 1/434; side better (after a couple of inches, the curling cutoff would jam in this trimmer). The feature that allows this trimmer to act as if the halves were held apart by strings is a couple of pneumatic cylinders sealed by rubber O-rings. Unfortunately, when working with 1/234; stock it was too difficult to press the halves together; it just wasn't feasible to trim both sides at once. I tried removing the O-rings and installing real springs in the cylinder holes, but it was still too tough for my wife to use. The saving feature is that the two halves can easily be pulled apart and used independently, like the Band-It. So, having pulled the two halves apart, as two single units this trimmer beats the Band-It on how much more comfortable it is to hold. It's also easier to keep it square to the wood without tipping. If I were going to have just a single trimmer, this would be the one.

Sharp blades that works well most time uses separated as the material I use is wider than 1 1/434;

Works great. I couldn't get even trimming on two sides at once, but it's still quick and neat as a one-sided trimer. Easier than past efforts with a plane or chisel.

Nice tool. You need to clean off adhesive once in awhile, but it does a nice job. Need a strong grip to do half-inch material.
