I used these to hold up one side of my shade sail over my patio. The fence is only about 4' tall, so I bought some brackets to hold these poles in place.I wouldn't expect them to hold up a shade sail in the wind and fully extended -- I extended these about halfway for each part, with the lower sections helping to stabilize and strengthen the upper parts. They feel secure, and sure enough, when the wind picked up, they held up just fine. I've had them up now for 2 weeks here on the New England coast and they've held up. I like them so much I've ordered another pair for the 3rd floor deck!

Ordered these to hold up a shade on a boat. The twist lock doesnt function in one of them and the connectors slide off from where they are supposed to go. Absolutely dont waste your money. Buy a higher quality product and save the headache.

Very light, easy to expand.. Like the extra length of 9 ft and when collapsed only 42 inches! Very sturdy. Have ordered these twice, really like them but second order both poles arrived with blown out bottom cups. Have replaced the cups with two I picked up at hardware store but shouldn't have to do that.

these are great for extending shade cover from our canopies... give that extra shaded area at dog shows... poles collapse/set up quickly and are super sturdy.

So we bought these to work with our beach tent. We wanted to be able to stand underneath our beach then and the poles that came with the tent were only 5 feet tall. As we are closer to 6 feet tall, I ordered these to raise up one side of the tent. I was a little concerned as they swayed in the beach wind quite a bit but if not in the wind, I’m sure you could raise these to 9 feet tall and it would be just fine.

Purchased these to replace broken poles on a trailer awning. Was really easy to modify and install, and worked better than the originals in holding the awning in place in the wind and rain.

When I used it first time one of the pole was not at all getting tight or lock. I keep twisting for several minutes. And then Finally it locked after lot of efforts. The bottom support or shoe broke during first use. I returned it.

These are a great idea just not very well made. The rubber foot won't stay on one of them. The twist to secure nighthawk doesn't always work. There is no way to secure then in place.

The awning is very sturdy in strong winds as long as you use ropes on each side to hold it down. The poles keep the awning from being pushed down from the wind and the ropes keep it from being pushed up from the wind.

The poles are lightweight but the tightening mechanism broke the first usage and the ends popped off not too long after. It was supporting a small tarp.
