To be honest, I haven't even tried it yet. I ended up getting a shot in my elbow because the pain was so bad. Exercise didn't seem to help it. But I have the Flexbar & will use it if the elbow acts up again in the future!

With a limited us of this product, 3 weeks, there have been little or no results in helping the elbow pain that was mentioned in Reader's Digest to help with tennis elbow. I'll give it a few more months.

I purchased the FlexBar to do exercises for my tendonitis in my elbows. I followed the recommended exercises and they both seem to be getting much better plus I can feel the strength in my grip getting better.

The Thera-Band works very well but only after an extensive search on the internet for instructions. The instructions that come with the product just show pictures with minimal wording and are not very good. "Reader's Digest" recommended the Thera-Band for tennis elbow and that is why I bought it. The instructions that came with the Thera-Band do not even address tennis elbow. After doing an internet search, we found good, detailed instructions on how to use the band for tennis elbow. These instructions should be included. After using the internet instructions, I could tell a difference in the strength of my arm.

I bought the heavy flexbar to use with my exercises to help cure my tennis elbow. Unfortunatly, it is way too thick for me to grip it comfortably. The diameter is 1 and 7/8 inches (too bad this data wasn't included with all the other information they show). I suspect that the medium one would work better.

I was looking for something to use for upper body and arm exercise without having to go to a gym. I found it with the Flexbar, and have found it to be very effective.

After reading an article in the NY Times and watching a You Tube video, I ordered the red (weakest) Flexbar for my longstanding, chronic tendonitis. The exercise is different than any of those outlined in the instruction manual -- be sure to read Dr. Timothy Tyler's method! There was immediate improvement, and by two weeks my pain was gone! I highly recommend the Flexbar!

This bar has been a real life saver. I have been using this for 2 weeks and have seen a huge improvement in my pain relief. I would highly recommend this tool for anyone with tennis elbow. I have actually regained most of my use and I can tell strength is returning to my elbow.[...]

I tried the soft (red) bar somewhere for twisting motion and liked it but it was too soft for me. I purchased the meduim stiffness one and after trying it a few times for twisting motion I gave up using it. The twisting motion creates too much friction on palm of my hands and after a few minutes my skin starts burning. Now I only use it for flexing which works better without skin irritation. However, the flexing motion range is rather small and starts too easily and ends too hard. It is just a small range of motion that the resistance is just right. This is a problem with all spring-like devices as opposed to dead weight resistance. So, not a total loss but not as good as I thought it would be.

I saw the article in the NYT's and the video how to use on you tube. Having recovered from tennis elbow (TE) I was interested. The product is amazing. The exercise flexes the exact muscles and connective tissue involved in TE. I would reccomend this product.

All the Thera-Band "flexbars are quality products. I bought all three stiffness red(light) green(medium) and blue (heavy), so that I could find the correct level for me to do "tennis elbow" "eccentric contraction" exercises. The green seemed about right for me, 175lb male. I also bought 4 different Cando flexible hand bars: red (light), green(medium), blue(heavy), and black(x-heavy). All four colors felt about the same. To check my sense of feel, I measured the force required to bend the bars to 90 degrees. The forces were as follows: red- 10.2 lb, green- 8.2lb, blue- 11.2lb, black- 10.4lb. The Cando bars appear to be trying to compete with the There-Band "Flexbar". Using my measurements the force to bend these bars 90 degrees are red- 2.3lb, green- 4.3lb, blue- 6.5lb. All the Cando bars are too stiff. It is clear to me that there is no concern about quality by the makers of the Cando bar. How else could one explain that a "light" red bar having about the same stiffness as a black "x-heavy" bar.

Saw this in an article in the New York Times, about a study at Lenox Hill Hospital aimed at simple, inexpensive therapy for chronic tennis elbow. The study was halted early because the results were so dramatic. There's a link to a video showing the exercise. My husband has been using this daily; he had immediate relief of pain which has continued since day one.[...]

good seller, arrived quickly. Too early to say if it is effective for tennis elbow.

This product is easy to use. It can be used to make eccentric exercises easier by deforming the bar and slowly allowing it to go back to normal. The only weakness is that it smells kind of strong when it is fresh. Some plastic/rubber product smell. If you have an open gym, I recommend leaving it out there instead of in the office.

I bought this because I read (and watched a video) about how this could be used as a treatment for tennis elbow. I've been doing the exercise 3 times a day for about a month, and it really helps. I can now straighten my arm without pain, and I'm able to lift some light-weight items without the fear of dropping them. I still have a ways to go, but it sure beats getting shots in an already-painful elbow that send you bouncing off the ceiling!

I haven't used this product, but am going to order one following a NY Times article saying that twisting it is an effective treatment for tennis elbow (and other elbow strains/injuries). The article reported on tests which shows that this is FAR better than conventional treatments for tennis elbow.[...]The NY Times article includes a video showing the specific exercise. Watch it!

Excellent product. Easy to maintain a good grip while training. Provides exercise for muscles used in deep sea fishing, with results that are difficult to achieve with dumbells or other methods.

This product is great for folks who have arm and shoulder problems. It was used as part of my official physical therapy regime after I dislocated my shoulder, and I ordered one for my own use at home, because it was so helpful.

I purchased this brand and model to compare against the Cando twist-n-bend, which is a very similar product. The Thera-Band Company makes quality products and some of them are designed for very fit individuals. However, the Flexbar heavy model is not a product for a person of even moderate strength. It is far to easy to twist and bend this model to get a decent workout. The Flexbar heavy, medium, and light models are better suited for people going through rehabilitation, those that lack upper body strength, and teenagers whose muscles have not fully developed. Although the material ingredients are a little bit better quality than the Cando twist-n-bend, the Cando extra heavy model, which Thera-band does not have a similar model, is designed for strong athletes, martial artists, boxer, wrestlers, bouncers and many others. The Cando model is also cheaper.I should have spent my money on another Cando twist-n-bend instead of the Flexbar.
