My mom can't use a remote anymore, not a complicated modern one anyway. So I got her this. The key features I wanted:1) Few buttons2) Memorizes just the important channels, not the whole 100 she gets3) Works with her cable boxIt definitely has few buttons. It does memorize channels but just a small number of them, I think 8, which is less than I'd like as it forced me to cut some stuff out that she likes. And it did not immediatelty work with her cable box because it was behind the TV and the remote requires direct line of site from remote to the IR Sensor on the cable box. I had to buy an IR Extender and that worked fine. These are my three minor issues:1) Small number of channels storable in the remote.2) Remote requires you to be pointing remote at the IR receiver on the TV / Cable Box and my mom has to look at the remote to use it so she holds it vertically and half the time it won't recognize her commands. It would be nice if the IR sensor could be located in a slightly different position to allow for the remote to be slightly vertical and still work. You may not have this concern, of course.3) it's slow to end over the channel. If you programmed one of the channel presets to go to channel 1105 and then you channel up to that present it sends it over one digit at a time 1-1-0-5 and if you move it during that process you could channel 1, channel 11, etc. This confuses mom immensely. I think ever time I see her I have to explain (again) that she has to hold it flat and wait for the channel to sloooowly change. But overall it gives her a 60 chance to use the TV and find what she wants and the other 40 is mostly down to her own limitations now so overall I rated if 4 stars, perfect the channel slow flipping (while probably a technical necessity) makes it harder for someone with cognitive decline to use.
