I purchased this item in desperation for my 91 YO parent who had completely lost the ability to properly use a standard Optimum remote control, which when combined with today's smart television multi-functionality, made the simple act of turning a tv on and watching a program a daily dive down the rabbit hole of pop-up menu's for services and settings, none of which she understood or had access to. And, of course, figuring out how to get back to simple functions using the same complicated remote was an even more pointless exercise in futility. None of which I could fix for her, my living an hour away. What made it even more maddening for me was the endless, repeat phone calls for help I was getting every 10 minutes. I don't know why it took me this long to research simple remotes, which led me to the Flipper, but better late than never. I will cut to the chase and detail what it took me to set up the device.1. I powered up the Optimum cable box and brand new Hisense smart TV.2. Placed 2 AAA batteries in the Flipper ( note- while standing less than 4 feet from both units, not sure if that mattered)3. Tested the volume control buttons on the Flipper (the first step of installation instructions provided). THEY WORKED.4. Instructions next directed me to try the channel controls. THEY WORKED TOO. Channel up, channel down, the numerical keypad...all performed perfectly. HOLY $^ !!!5. Tried the LC button (last channel) ALSO WORKS6. As a test, I tried pushing the three additional buttons at the bottom of the keypad, to see if any of those, if hit by accident would cause a problem. NOPE NO PROBLEMS7. Finally, I hit the green on/off button. Both units went dark.8. Still not convinced I was out of the woods, I let the units stay dark for 15 minutes, then pressed the on/off button. Both units powered up immediately and correctly, ready for hassle free viewing. That was it. Could not have been simpler. No punching in of brand codes, no frustrating calls to tech support (hence the no star rating although if tech support is as good as the product...). One thing I did do was remove the sliding cover that conceals the keypad. My mom likes to use the keypad to go to her favorite stations and even a simple sliding cover could prove a problem for 90 year old arthritic fingers.I'd give this item 10 stars if I could. Still let's see how well it works on day 2.... can't see why it shouldn't, but anythings possible.

My mom can't use a remote anymore, not a complicated modern one anyway. So I got her this. The key features I wanted:1) Few buttons2) Memorizes just the important channels, not the whole 100 she gets3) Works with her cable boxIt definitely has few buttons. It does memorize channels but just a small number of them, I think 8, which is less than I'd like as it forced me to cut some stuff out that she likes. And it did not immediatelty work with her cable box because it was behind the TV and the remote requires direct line of site from remote to the IR Sensor on the cable box. I had to buy an IR Extender and that worked fine. These are my three minor issues:1) Small number of channels storable in the remote.2) Remote requires you to be pointing remote at the IR receiver on the TV / Cable Box and my mom has to look at the remote to use it so she holds it vertically and half the time it won't recognize her commands. It would be nice if the IR sensor could be located in a slightly different position to allow for the remote to be slightly vertical and still work. You may not have this concern, of course.3) it's slow to end over the channel. If you programmed one of the channel presets to go to channel 1105 and then you channel up to that present it sends it over one digit at a time 1-1-0-5 and if you move it during that process you could channel 1, channel 11, etc. This confuses mom immensely. I think ever time I see her I have to explain (again) that she has to hold it flat and wait for the channel to sloooowly change. But overall it gives her a 60 chance to use the TV and find what she wants and the other 40 is mostly down to her own limitations now so overall I rated if 4 stars, perfect the channel slow flipping (while probably a technical necessity) makes it harder for someone with cognitive decline to use.

I LOVE this remote!! My parents have dementia and this is sooo easy to use. The regular remotes look like the control dash of an airplane. This one has only a few buttons and they're able to use it. I can't thank this company enough!I will add one bit of advice. Take a photo of the remote so if you DO get a call asking for help, you can advise your loved one to press the green button, or the blue button etc. It's just so easy to use and so wonderful!

Wonderful product and amazing customer service. I tried to limit the channels for my mother and I was struggling with her TV. Customer service helped me with the process and responded to my questions very quickly. It was fixed in no time and now she doesn't have to scroll through 90 channels to find the one that she is looking for. The remote is easy to set up and very easy to use. She is very happy. Thank you

if you have a senior that just can't work a remote, this is the fix. Easy to program and easy to use, your senior won't inadvertantly change to a channel accidently and with on/off, volume big buttons, it's a perfect item

Bought this for my aging parents who grew increasing unhappy and unable to properly operate their satellite tv system remote. With this remote they can easily see and operate the on/off, volume and channel or - buttons and this is all they really used anyway. This has eliminated many emergency trips because their TV wasn't working! TIP: You'll definitely want to set-up a favorites list of just the handful of channels they actually watch either through the tv system (easiest) or on the remote.

The Flipper remote is life changing for my 87 year old mother who has macular degeneration. She can watch TV by sitting very close to a large screen. However, she cannot see well enough to use traditional remotes. Until we got the Flipper, she watched only one channel out of fear she would inadvertently mess up her TV settings with the remote. Now, with the Flipper, she can easily adjust the TV volume and navigate to all her favorite channels. The set-up instructions are accurate and clear, but it does take time to do. I recommend you first make a list of your favorite channels and also write down the codes for your television and cable box. We ran into a serious problem with set-up because Mom lives in an assisted living facility that has a commercial contract with Directv. Tech support for Directv told me their service could not be used with a universal remote like Flipper. I reached out to tech support at Flipper. Within the hour, they responded with a solution that allowed us to pair the Flipper remote without any trouble. The Flipper makes the world so much bigger for Mom. The product is great. The customer service is amazing!

I got this for my mom, because the universal remote was too complicated for her (or anyone really, if we admit it!).Quick notes:(1) When reading the configuration instructions, slide open the face plate to see all the controls and the instructions suddenly make a lot more sense. I'm not sure if they didn't say that or I didn't notice, but be sure to do that. :-)(2) I had to manually set the codes for our older Sony TV and Set Top Box (STB) and then the volume and channels (respectively) worked perfectly.(3) We have a sound bar, but as long as it was left ON and the TV was configured to use that as it's sound output, it continued to function perfectly.(4) They say this in the instructions, but if you have programmed the remote to cycle through favorite channels, be sure to train anyone using this to be patient when changing channels. If you mash the button it doesn't have time to send all the channel numbers and your results may be unexpected (as in, you'll land on channel 11, instead of on channel 1132).(5) I recommend following the instructions and make a list of your favorite channels before you start entering them because it will enter duplicates, which lead to a sub-optimal experience. They were easy enough to delete, but having the list up front is a great tip.(6) If you get the favorites messed up you can reset back to default settings, but if you do that you DO have to reconfig the TV and STB again. But I found it to be the fastest way of starting over with the favorites rather than deleting them one by one.Overall, I love this thing. I can slide down the cover and enter any channel I want to jump to, but otherwise, it will just cycle through our favorites, including premium channels and music channels and it means Mom can channel surf through her favorites without help from anyone.

My mom moved into an assisted living facility and the Directv remote buttons were way too small for her fingers. So I found this remote and easily programmed her tv and STB. Works great and now she can easily change channels. Even easy to program her favorite channels. She loves it!

Alzheimers patient who has the TV on 24/7. This remote is ideal, but she manages to confuse the volume and channel buttons anyway and now uses both this and the old remote, thereby defeating the purpose. But that's not this remote's fault. It's easy to use and since the other buttons are hidden- it should help.Suggestions: 1. Make it light up. At nighttime- the only light she wants is from the TV, which makes it difficult for her to see which button to use. 2. Bigger bolder font. Eldery have difficutly seeing some print, making it easier for them to hit the wrong button.

Got this Flipper Big button for my elderly Mom who has limited mobility and she depends on it because she LOVES her TV and panics without it. The Flipper was easy to set up with first two TVs but we ran into issues with a new Smart TV this week. Flipper’s phenomenal and patient tech support helped me get it working in 5 minutes. My Mom was so happy to have her remote and TV back and I was so happy she was happy!! My Mom and I highly recommend Flipper to everyone that needs a simple easy to use TV remote.

I almost sent this back. I could not figure out how to pair it with the remote. We have Ulta Fiber (Cincinnati Bell). So the way I did it was to have this remote and the cable remote face each other laying flat on a table ( tops of the remotes facing each other) and was able to program the channels and the off and on. To do the volume, I used the actual tv remote that came with the tv and paired them the same way for the volume. Use the instructions on how to pair each thing, volume, channels and off/on. The only thing I wasn't able to to was program favorites, I can't quite figure that out. But at least my 84 year old Mother isn't overwhelmed with all of the buttons the other remotes have.

Purchase this for my mother who has Parkinson's and dementia. The Direct TV remote was very confusing for her and she would constantly record shows accidentally, get into the sub-screens and other things. Having a remote that her most watched channels can be easily programmed into is great. The remote was extremely easy to set up and program. I'm very happy with this product.
