Let me start by saying all my aging parent has is a TV and a Motorola cable top box.The BIG BIG feature with this remote is that you can program it to strictly turn off the TV and not the cable box. Every other remote I tried would turn off the cable box and it went down hill from there. This was a game changer for me. My 92 year old mother who is going blind and has severe memory problems was constantly calling me because her TV(s) didn't work. She couldn't turn them on, worse she couldn't turn them off. I would have to go to her care center 2-3 times per week to set everything back to usable. She was constantly filling up her DVR with random shoes. Tried everything including high end programable remotes. I bought 2 of these and no more calls. There isn't anything she do to change TV settings.

If you have an elderly person who struggles to control their tv with a normal remote, this is the one. It is a bit complicated to program at first. Once you get it sync to your tv, it's a breeze to use. I made sure to tape the battery compartment and front of the remote to eliminate opening and revealing un-needed buttons.

This simple remote has been so helpful for my husband who has dementia and has been unable to use a TV remote for several years now. The number of channels we have with Dish Network satellite is mind-boggling for him. Now he has his favorite 10 channels to choose from that are programmed into his remote. And when I have to leave him alone for a couple of hours he has the option of watching television. It gives him some independence and he loves it.From the reviews, I assumed I would probably have to get tech support involved to set the remote up for our Sony TV with the Dish Network Joey. Fortunately, I did not have to do so. I have a tech savvy son who was able to figure it out after about a half hour. Apparently, once the code for the TV is put in, you have to switch to the IR setting for the remote. That means little to me, but the Flipper won't work without doing so. The regular remote works as well, so you're not limited to the Flipper. That one needs to be switched to IR also.

My 98 year old mother would press the wrong button on the remote provided by the cable company and it would be all down hill from there. More often than not, she would have changed the input so the only thing on the screen was a message saying No Signal. She would then pull out every wire and cable from the back of the tv. This went on at least twice a week. With the FLIPPER, those days are done. There are 6 buttons, none of which change the input. If the mute button gets pushed, the tv can be unmuted either by pushing the mute button again or a volume button. I initially had trouble programing the FLIPPER to run her off-brand tv but Customer Service walked me through the learning process over the phone and it worked like a charm. You have to submit a written customer service request but they get back with you very quickly and will provide you with a phone number if needed. I can't say enough about this remote. It should be made available by every cable company and should be provided in every assisted living community. Thank you! Thank you!

This was a godsend. Mother is in a memory care facility, Charter Spectrum was our only option for TV. There equipment is antiquated to say the least, you can't set a favorites list that is the default, so way too complicated for her. This remote allowed me to limit her to a few channels she likes. Thank you...

Great remote if you have elderly parents who have trouble with a many-button remote. Easy to use and set up. I got two and they both work great!

My mother has Alzheimer's and she started messing up the TV with the standard cable remote (tv out of sync, upgrading TV packages unknowingly, etc). I was having to go over to her house at least once a day to “fix” the TV. I asked the cable company if they had a “simple” remote for seniors and they said no. I ordered this remote and I was able to program specific channels, program it to only turn the TV off but keep the cable box on. I can't say enough good about this remote. No more phone calls during the day about the TV being “broken” or my mother just sitting looking at a blank screen because she gave up trying to fix it herself. Whoever created this definitely knows the struggles of people with cognitive disabilities and seniors that want simplicity. This is money well spent! Thank you!

This remote was easy to connect to my dad's television. The only thing to be careful is there is a code for the TV and another code for the set-top box (his was xfinity) You will need the numbers for both, but they are included in the instructions that come with the remote. Easy to install and everything worked as intended.

My MIL has progressive frontal lobe dementia is quickly forgetting everyday tasks especially anything to do with electronics (even the most basic things). She had completely lost her ability to navigate basic TV operation (standard remotes were causing a meltdown). We were able to quickly program this remote and it is HUGE success!! She has been able to recapture a skill and it has given her back something she enjoys! We purchased an additional 2 units to upfit all the televisions. This was an amazing purchase which gave a priceless gift!

There's a huge struggle with ederly looking for things. Specially remote controls that blend in with furniture. This device allows everyone to know where the control is and helps limit my grandma to choose the correct buttons. I get no more phone calls about how the TV doesn't work anymore. Super helpful! And it's hella cool that the other buttons are hidden

Dad had a super complex tv system before with amplifier, tv, and satellite controls. With the progression of his Alzheimer's there came a day when he could no longer use complicated controls. After a lot of trial and error I found this device. It works perfectly. It can be programmed for the tv plus the satellite box. Just follow the instructions that come with the remote to code in your system. also someone else mentioned a way to disable the function to turn off the box versus the tv. I did that and it worked like a charm. I would recommend that step. I did have to remove the amplifier/ surround sound from the mix, but the TV sound was sufficient for his needs. The simple buttons on the controller make it much easier for him to at least turn the TV on/ off and control volume. The satellite box stays on full time (see above comment about disabling the on/off for the box). The TV is set to his favorite channel and no longer can he use the guide function but that is ok. The guide would just confuse him anyway. Occasionally he surfs channels, somewhat cumbersome but still much better than before. This was a godsend. Prior to using this I'd talk to him daily about how his tv was not working, for about 2-3 weeks. He'd accidentally press buttons on his previous controllers. This controller makes things much easier for him.

We got this for hubby's mum, who is very low vision and not tech savvy (she listens to the tv). The cable company remote control is too complicated for her and she hate's to ask us to turn on her tv (she lives with us). The Flipper is much simpler (only 4 main controls, numeric key pad hidden) and very simple to set up - it took us less than 5 minutes to set up both the set top box and the tv. Now she can turn the tv on and off, which gives her a little more independence.
