This remote was simple to program (had to look up the instructions since they were not in the box, but that was easy enough). My dad (93 year old) likes the simplicity of the remote and being able to turn on/off his tv and cable. His cable remote was A LOT more complicated and if things didn't work he would press whichever button without reading what they are. The Flipper is nice and simple, EXCEPT it would be nice to have a guide option on the remote. Since it doesn't he still needs to use the cable box remote to check out the guide to find programing/hockey, which will lead to him pressing other buttons and getting confused. So if you don't use the TV guide then this is a great simple remote. Would be great to add a guide button on the next model!!

This remote is simple to set up and simple to use. My dad is struggling with memory issues and was constantly changing the settings on the TV by accidentally hitting the wrong buttons. This remote hides the number buttons and only leaves the most basic commands available. It's still a bit of a learning curve for those challenged by Dimentia, but Dad is getting the hang of the color codes, and best of all, no more calls that the TV “isn't working “!

Purchased for my parent who has dementia. So far he is able to turn on and off the remote, change the channels and use the volume control. Needed help with the programming of the Tv and cable. I e-mailed the company when the clip to open the compartment for the batteries broke off by the tab. They wrote me back right away to replace the cover no charge. What a nice company. I always recommend this product to my clients family members who have dementia.

My mom can't use a remote anymore, not a complicated modern one anyway. So I got her this. The key features I wanted:1) Few buttons2) Memorizes just the important channels, not the whole 100 she gets3) Works with her cable boxIt definitely has few buttons. It does memorize channels but just a small number of them, I think 8, which is less than I'd like as it forced me to cut some stuff out that she likes. And it did not immediatelty work with her cable box because it was behind the TV and the remote requires direct line of site from remote to the IR Sensor on the cable box. I had to buy an IR Extender and that worked fine. These are my three minor issues:1) Small number of channels storable in the remote.2) Remote requires you to be pointing remote at the IR receiver on the TV / Cable Box and my mom has to look at the remote to use it so she holds it vertically and half the time it won't recognize her commands. It would be nice if the IR sensor could be located in a slightly different position to allow for the remote to be slightly vertical and still work. You may not have this concern, of course.3) it's slow to end over the channel. If you programmed one of the channel presets to go to channel 1105 and then you channel up to that present it sends it over one digit at a time 1-1-0-5 and if you move it during that process you could channel 1, channel 11, etc. This confuses mom immensely. I think ever time I see her I have to explain (again) that she has to hold it flat and wait for the channel to sloooowly change. But overall it gives her a 60 chance to use the TV and find what she wants and the other 40 is mostly down to her own limitations now so overall I rated if 4 stars, perfect the channel slow flipping (while probably a technical necessity) makes it harder for someone with cognitive decline to use.

I almost sent this back. I could not figure out how to pair it with the remote. We have Ulta Fiber (Cincinnati Bell). So the way I did it was to have this remote and the cable remote face each other laying flat on a table ( tops of the remotes facing each other) and was able to program the channels and the off and on. To do the volume, I used the actual tv remote that came with the tv and paired them the same way for the volume. Use the instructions on how to pair each thing, volume, channels and off/on. The only thing I wasn't able to to was program favorites, I can't quite figure that out. But at least my 84 year old Mother isn't overwhelmed with all of the buttons the other remotes have.

This remote has helped out a lot when it comes to dealing with my elderly mom. She always got confused using two remote. I would recommend this for anybody who is struggling with an older person who does not understand technology. I would have gave five stars but the reason I didn't is because it's not a quick acting remote. But the customer support was fantastic.

Although the Flipper big button remote is not perfect, I really am very hopeful that this will solve the problems my husband has had while trying to use the regular DIRECTV remote. I have to credit the tech-support from Dan. I had gotten so frustrated trying to get the sound bar to work and to get the cable box and TV to both go on. The frustration really truly would have totally interfered with my being able to set this remote up. Thank goodness for good tech-support. I am really hopeful that this new big button remote will relieve a lot of stress for my husband and subsequently for me. Thank you

This product was so simple to set up for my 92 year old mom. None of the codes in the book related to my mom's TV worked but I was able to use the Code Search feature and found the code using that. Now she has one remote that works her Spectrum cable box and her TV. I still am trying to figure out how to put in her favorite channels so she doesn't have to go thru all her available channels. I would definitely recommend this.

Unfortunately this remote only supports IR (InfraRed) and not RF (RadioFrequency) devices. My Dad's Comcast box (Pace XG2v2v-P) only has RF and does not provide an IR option that can be enabled in the box settings menu. Would be nice if manufacture provided detailed box Manufacturer and Model list that are supported. Would have saved me time and saved them from receiving an open/used remote for refund.

Regular TV remotes have too any buttons and small print which makes it hard and confusing for older people and those with memory problems. This remote is fail proof. Only 6 buttons with easy to read print: Off/On, Mute, Channel up/down and volume up/down. Colorful and there's a slide feature that covers the number buttons. It took me extra time to find the correct codes to work the channel function. I had to look them up online. You can also pre-program channels or program favorites so your loved one doesn't have to search thru so many channels.Keep a copy of the codes to program TV taped to remote or inside battery compartment.

The Directions are difficult to understand...not sure why because the solution to my issue was so easy once I called tech support and spoke to Dan. He walked me through everything with the utmost of patience! Once programmed my mother with Alzheimer's could easily use this remote.

This remote is designed to simplify the use of complicated remotes that access all of the features of the cable box and the tv. Remote handles both of these items starting with on and off. The buttons for switching channels and volume are big. Very simple remote for technology challenged individuals.

I am a full time caretaker of my 83 year old father. Who pushed so many buttons, that the cable company replaced the box. And my son has to reprogram the TV. This ended the problem.

I bought this for someone with dementia who struggles with a typical remote. It does exactly what they need. It turns on the TV, changes channels, and changes volume. You can pull down the bottom to access the numbered pad, but I leave it closed to not confuse the person. It is large and white and stands out, so they don't easily lose it. Perfect for this purpose.

I wish the volume and channel buttons went up and down instead of left and right, but this is a minor complaint. I built a custom video box with a raspberry pi and this works great for someone with dementia. Every other remote has too many buttons.

The control works fine. The problem is the user: It's different, and therefore put aside. Keep that in mind if you're targeting this for a senior citizen. I think it's a great idea - just the buttons one actually needs and uses, but in this case it's less hassle to listen to the complaints about the stock remote that to try to change behavior.

I was able to set this up for my mom very quickly for on/off and volume but could not get the channels to work after many attempts. I called tech support and quickly discovered that the Flipper needed direct line of sight to the cable box. The nursing home had the box mounted behind the tv. Once I placed the box on the dresser the remote worked. My mom finds it very easy to use! Hoping previous reviews that say the Flipper stops working quickly does not happen. Only improvement would be light up buttons for night.

It's easy to program and the minimal buttons are great for reducing confusion. My only complaint is that the on/off button will sometimes only turn off or on either the cable box or the TV and not the other. I have to resort to the original remote to get them back in synch.

Got this for my 100 year old mother, whose hands don't work that well. It was easy to install and sync with the TV, and she is able to use the buttons....One problem is the channel advance. With this device, you program in only a few channels, like the six that they really watch, and then you just flip through those instead of the dozens of channels available. But there's a lag or the button sticks, and when you try to advance on channel it may skip two or three ahead. You sit there pushing the button until it randomlyy lands on the channel you wanted.
