It has a solid made switch, porcelain socket and a deep well for heat bulbs. I use porcelain heater bulbs to radiate heat for 3-ten year old snakes. These type of infrared bulbs last for well over 3 years before being replaced. Currently use a 75w. If your shopping around like I did you will be happy and content with this one.

Love the fact it has a ceramic socet so I can use my daylight basking bulbs. Size is perfect for my smaller tank and it's reflective interior reflects all of the heat and light into the tank. Snake can get to the temp it needs and get on with its business. Also the price beats everything out there! I needed two and I got them for less than buying one from the competitors. I have had Fluker's dome lights before and have not had an issue, so hoping they are still made of dependable stuff.

I don't know why I didn't buy this light dome before. I like the shape and the shortness of it. The metal handle is so helpful to have so my fingers don't burn when picking up the light to move it. Great product, will purchase again if needed!

UPDATE: we've had the dome about 2 months now. Recently, it started glowing orange like it was over heating at the bulb area. Tonight we're changing out the bulb but I'm worried about it being a fire hazard. Will update as soon as a get a change.This is exactly what we were looking for. We were using a clamp heat emitter for our hedgehog but found we were losing heat. Bought this dome and her habitat is a few degrees higher! It's perfect to say on top and point directly down. Highly recommend for your heat emitting lamps.
