Loved everything about this story. Definitely a good read. It took me to places I have never been to but more importantly it is a clear example of how a human and another species can connect on a deep level.

A wonderfully insightful book! Atticus aka Little Buddha, leads the story accompanied by Tom providing such insight into Tom's life. While this is a story about a dog in many ways, it is a touching, inspiring and emotion gripping story - highly recommend this book along with his new book Will's Red Coat. It's all about a journey, finding out way to Walk in Beauty.

A good friend (Mary Ann), have me a lifeline after losing my best friend, my husband. She invited me to join her book club. She also adopted and loved side by side with two miniature schnauzers, Murph and Molly. I heard about Will's Red Coat and had to read it; I needed a good cathartic cry! I then decided I needed to read the book that lead up to Will. Atticus have me several cries! It is also worth noting that "To Kill a Mockingbird" is my lifetime favorite book. So thank you Tom Ryan for giving me your little partner for the best pet story of my life (and thank you, Atticus)!

A heartfelt, emotional read! Tom and Atticus bring the reader along on some amazing journeys, of both the mountains of New Hampshire as well as the heart! A touching story of love for an amazing furry friend .

I have always been an avid hiker with my dogs. This book captures so many feelings I have had as I watch my dogs enthusiastically take each step and scent on every trail no matter how many times we have been there. The beauty of the Rocky Mountains goes without saying but to hike with a dog makes it even million times more beautiful and meaningful.

Not really a 34;can't stop reading34; story, nevertheless one can't help remembering Atticus, the dog whom everyone loved, for his heart and love of the mountains, even through snow and ice. I think the tale is true, and also tells the story of two people who were brought together by this little dog. Or am I thinking of another story? This is a story you can live with, reading and rereading, though it is hard for me to see what draws the pair to do something that I think is foolhardy--managing to clime all the high peaks of New Hampshire twice in one winter. But there is something about it that seems to speak of the exxence of man's bond with nature, and his fight against it in the worst of times. And the trials that Atticus goes through with such bravery, drawing the man on to bring out the best of himself--well, that's worth reading. So I recommend this book.

I first learned about Tom and Atticus from a Dogs 101 show on Animal Planet, and as a long-time owner of mini schnauzers and life-long dog lover, I just HAD to read the book. I chose to get the audio book, which is narrated by Tom himself. That added a lot, listening to the author read it as it was intended. The story is lovely - Tom's prose is very colorful, so you feel like you're there experiencing it first hand. There is a lot of humor in the book as he describes Atticus' behavior in various scenarios. There are also many poignant moments. I was sad when I got to the end of the book because I wasn't ready for the journey to be over. I'm very much looking forward to Tom's second book about his other schnauzer, Will's Red Coat. That one is also available in audio book narrated by Tom, and that's how I'll "read" that one, too.
