Mission: The Mission of the Forest Management Trust is to promote sustainable management of forests for timber and non-timber products and services. Our fundamental premise is that only a small percentage of the world's forests will ever be set-aside in protected areas. Therefore, protection must be complemented by uses of the forest that contribute to economic development while maintaining ecosystem values. Our vision of sustainability includes:
* Financial returns from forest management and value-added activities that are profitable and competitive with conversion to alternative uses,
* Maintenance of ecological functions and biological diversity of the forest ecosystem, and
* Assurance that peoples who inhabit or work in the forest participate in the long-term benefits of forest management.
