Causes: Education

Mission: The mission of Friends of Literacy is to provide high-quality adult education programs for those in our community who are inadequately educated to meet the challenges of daily life. Our goal is to enable our students to achieve their full potential and become better citizens.

Target demographics: adults learn to read or get their High School Equivalency Diploma

Direct beneficiaries per year: 174 adults improved their education at Friends of Literacy, 147 of which were new students

Geographic areas served: Knox and Roane Counties

Programs: Free adult reading classes, basic adult education classes, and the HiSET classes.
