Mission: To inspire compassion for all animals, provide shelter and humane care to homeless animals, and promote adoptions and responsible pet guardianship in our community.

Target demographics: homeless and at-risk pets and struggling pet owners

Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2020, Friends of Strays rehomed 1,276 at-risk pets; provided $55,000 in vouchers for pet supplies and veterinary care for 1,303 pets from 469 out-of-work families who lost their source of income due to the pandemic; altered and vaccinated 1,124 community cats; donated 33,500 pounds of pet food to our partners at St. Pete Free Clinic, Daystar Life Center and Meals on Wheels; performed 2,607 spay & neuter surgeries.

Geographic areas served: St. Petersburg and Pinellas County

Programs: Adoptions, Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (TNVR), "Pinellas Cats Alive!" community cat return-to-field partnership with Pinellas County Animal Services, pet food pantry, free vaccine clinics, special medical treatment.
