Mission:The mission of the Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. (CTD) is to serve Durham and the Triangle region with vibrant, thought-provoking programs of the performing and cinematic arts in our historic treasure, The Carolina Theatre. We strive to contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of downtown Durham and to delight and educate our children and future leaders.  The CTD artistic programming strives to unlock the imagination, challenge the mind and celebrate the rich diversity of our region through cinematic and performing arts. The organization receives an annual contract fee from the city that is applied to the contract fulfillment and maintenance of the actual building.  People are drawn to the Carolina for inspiration, for learning and for fun; yet ticket sales and other earned income cover only 84% of the operating expenses. The organization must raise $400,000 annually to operate Durham County's only independent arthouse cinema, produce signature film festivals and present quality stage programs for students, aspiring artists and underserved communities.
