In order for me to use this cleaner, I have to do it from the top down, not enough clearance to do it from the bottom up. It's cumbersome to get everything on the roof, let alone keep it all on the roof without it rolling down to the ground. Works great with a cordless drill! Piecing it together with the push pins does take time. However, once it's all locked together it is flexible and very strong. Undoing it piece by piece with the little supplied tool, does take awhile also. Advise having something else with you, while on the roof, in case you accidently drop the push pin tool, sort of a back up plan, while taking the rod apart. It will save a trip to the ground to find it! The other thing I noticed is that if you have any creosote, like at the very top of the pipe, when using this tool it won't remove it, It smears it. Of course this is a good indicator that you're not burning it hot enough to avoid the build up. If you have ash build up only or dust, this tool is incredible for getting rid of this!

Good concept and works well - just make sure you secure each segment securely. Don't put too much bending stress as its in use. Cleans very well. We've used it on both stove pipe and brick chimneys.

I used this in my 3 pellet stove pipes with a good 90 angle. The momentum helps pull the brush down without too much force on your end. Clean pipe and no complaints here.

Trim it to length, tape a trash bag on the pipe and clean that baby out! Easy to use and does a great job cleaning the pipe.

The product worked well , but is a bit messy.Cover your drill and fire place in plastic. Wear gloves and a mask.

First off quality construction. It did work for me but I had to change my plans. Could not use from below I own a pellet insert into a fireplace. I had to remove my pellet insert to access the flue. The whip head of this cleaner would not fit through the flue flange. So I decided to go up to the top and work down. Due to the way the sections fit together I needed a third hand. Don't drop anything specifically everything you are sticking into the flue and the little special Allen wrench or your drill. And don't fall off the ladder or roof. What I did was put all the sections together into the flue until I reached the bottom then brought up the whole thing spinning it with the drill. Disconnecting each section and tossing the section to the ground. Reattaching the drill and continued. In the end this thing worked and did the job. Not as easy as I hoped.

Cleaned out my pellet stove exhaust pipe in less than 10 minutes. What a great product and I would highly recommend this. Couldn't have made it any easier.

Saves me from chancing breaking my neck on the roof. Get a little bit of a monkey shoulder angling it correct for extended time but saves calling a $150/hour sweeper. Bought 2 to get all the way to the end cap.

Instructions clear. I used it top down as my home is ranch style with 11 square masonry tile. Poles connect securely, took less than hour.Ran shop vac in through clean out to catch debris. No mess, but wear mask and goggles...

purchased last year but had paid someone to clean my 30' chimney stack. This year I rolled up the sleeves and got it done. Does it clean the stack - YES! Does it make a mess - YES! Despite all the plastic I taped around my wood stove insert, my wife and I had to clean the entire house after I was done with the stack cleaning. I had expected it would be messy but wow.Anyway, saved me money in the end as the contractor last year cost me about $150. Albeit that if I converted that to my time cleaning the stack and then cleaning the house it is probably a wash.Happy Chimney Cleaning.....

My initial review I could not locate the drill adaptor.. I found it and the sooteater worked great.I was disappointed that the contact number on the box was not to a customer service line.The contact number on the box was a sales/scam line pay $1.99 and get a $100 retail coupon.I only gave 4 stars because after using the drill adaptor repeatedly it got more difficult to push the button and remove the rod.

Purchased this product to clean an 8”metal flue approx. 20'H from the bottom up to tackle quite a bit of deposit build up.It did the job thoroughly as advertised in about an hour. Flue clean. No rod or drill binding. No noticeable wear to rather high gauge plastic whips.As for design, their could be improvements to push-button rod connection system, perhaps with locking ‘quick connects,' but it's a minor issue. Overall excellent.

I used this thing to clean my chimney. It worked very well. Kind of messy, but that's the nature of the job. Put my camera up into the chimney. It was surprisingly clean after 14 years of seasonal use.

Easily cleaned the stove pipe with a slight jog. Left quite a pile of soot/creosote inside the stove below.
