This chimney cleaning system works great. I have a new fireplace insert with steel tubing chimney; top cap similar to chicken wire gets clogged blocks airflow. Here in Colorado hardwood is rare and mostly use pine so cleaning is important. Chimney cap is 30 feet up and the house is on the side of a mountain so not interested in going out there on a ladder. The system is perfect. It goes all the way up cleans that cap and the chimney all the way down. I added a couple of extensions due to the height of my system. Always surprised how much soot comes down, just shovel it out from firebox when done. If you're willing to do a little work and cleaning, I highly recommend this.

I think that this product should also maybe have a tip to connect to Impact Drivers because sometimes the Drills come loose of their tips etc....

In order for me to use this cleaner, I have to do it from the top down, not enough clearance to do it from the bottom up. It's cumbersome to get everything on the roof, let alone keep it all on the roof without it rolling down to the ground. Works great with a cordless drill! Piecing it together with the push pins does take time. However, once it's all locked together it is flexible and very strong. Undoing it piece by piece with the little supplied tool, does take awhile also. Advise having something else with you, while on the roof, in case you accidently drop the push pin tool, sort of a back up plan, while taking the rod apart. It will save a trip to the ground to find it! The other thing I noticed is that if you have any creosote, like at the very top of the pipe, when using this tool it won't remove it, It smears it. Of course this is a good indicator that you're not burning it hot enough to avoid the build up. If you have ash build up only or dust, this tool is incredible for getting rid of this!

Good concept and works well - just make sure you secure each segment securely. Don't put too much bending stress as its in use. Cleans very well. We've used it on both stove pipe and brick chimneys.

First off quality construction. It did work for me but I had to change my plans. Could not use from below I own a pellet insert into a fireplace. I had to remove my pellet insert to access the flue. The whip head of this cleaner would not fit through the flue flange. So I decided to go up to the top and work down. Due to the way the sections fit together I needed a third hand. Don't drop anything specifically everything you are sticking into the flue and the little special Allen wrench or your drill. And don't fall off the ladder or roof. What I did was put all the sections together into the flue until I reached the bottom then brought up the whole thing spinning it with the drill. Disconnecting each section and tossing the section to the ground. Reattaching the drill and continued. In the end this thing worked and did the job. Not as easy as I hoped.

My initial review I could not locate the drill adaptor.. I found it and the sooteater worked great.I was disappointed that the contact number on the box was not to a customer service line. The contact number on the box was a sales/scam line pay $1.99 and get a $100 retail coupon.I only gave 4 stars because after using the drill adaptor repeatedly it got more difficult to push the button and remove the rod.

A food product for the money. Easy to use and much cheaper than hiring a chimney sweep.

The product works good, gets the job done. But after using it for about an hour one of the sticks broke, the stick is pretty long so it doesnt affect me but nevertheless. Putting the sticks together is fine but taking then apart is a . Over all a decent product for DIY chimney sweeps.

The chimney sweep that serviced our chimney 20 years ago used to be a two man teamone working on the roof to feed a chimney brush down while a second person worked at the chimney down below to manage the dust. It used to cost us $110 in northern Virginia. It now costs us $185 in 2020 for a single guy coming in with the exact same tool sold here for $60 working from the fireplace itself and feeding up the brush up the chimney. So I was glad to find this tool online and do the job myself. It's not super easy: I had to tape up the fireplace with a plastic painters sheet to control the dust, and the brush head made a loud racket as it went up my chimney insert and was whipped around by the drill: I imagine that this tool can tear apart a chimney insert that's not in good condition.Even with the fireplace covered up with plastic sheet and taped, I still ended up breathing in a lot of black ash. However, the tool accomplished the desired goal of cleaning off the ash that was attached to the inside of my chimney insert as you can see in the before and after photos. One tip: use a creosote treatment (like Rutland's creosote remover) a couple of times to break up the creosote before using this brush to help make it easier to remove the buildup inside your chimney. The price is a bit high for a bunch of nylon sticks, but it's still a good value compared to the overpriced home services in the northern Virginia area. Those living in less expensive regions might find it just not worth putting up with the mess of cleaning a chimney yourself.

Cleaning the 4 exhaust vent on my pellet stove went from being hours of frustrating failure to 10 minutes of total success. Why don't my local stores carry this product? The exhaust vent cleaning kits I purchased locally simply did not work (the ones that come as a loop of cable with a brush at the end). My pellet stove is downstairs (3/4 below ground) so the exhaust pipe runs out of the back, then straight up six feet, bends 90 degrees, then straight out through the wall. Best access is from outside but navigating the 90 degree bend down was problematic. This product however, went in, navigated the bend, and cleaned the six foot drop below that with ease. Took literally 10 mins. I can't remember the last time I was this happy with a purchase. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, easily.
