Mission: Since 1896, Goodwill Rescue Mission has provided daily meal service and other forms of basic needs care to those experiencing homelessness and hunger in Newark. In 2017, Goodwill Rescue Mission became a controlled affiliate of The Bowery Mission, the nation's oldest rescue mission serving New Yorkers experiencing homelessness since the 1870s. Beginning in March 2020, as part of new efforts to work toward a financially sustainable strategy, services are temporarily suspended for a period of two to three years, as the organization explores new opportunities for redeveloping its campus on University Avenue to more effectively care for Newark neighbors experiencing homelessness.  (Less)

Goodwill Rescue Mission is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1942, and donations are tax-deductible.
