- Time: signs used to communicate information about time
- Pronominalization: handshapes used for pronominal reference
- Subjects & Objects: ways in which ASL indicates grammatical role of nouns in sentences
- Classifiers: special set of signs that function as pronouns, move as verbs, show spatial location, indicate manner of an action, describe characteristics of a person or thing
- Locatives: relationships between referents and the locations of various actions and events
- Pluralization: different kinds of signs used to show that there is more than one of something
- Temporal Aspect: movements and meanings of four verb inflections that provide info about the duration and/or frequency of an event
- Distributional Aspect: inflections used to give more detailed information about the "distribution" of an event
