Works fine. I bought it for a pipe project, but using it more for aerating soil and quickly digging small holes to plant seedlings. Good for my clay soil.

It took me a few tries to get used to it. Go a few inches, lift and pull out dirt, repeat. What a time saver! Great for getting small post holes started.

Really does a good job of digging into the ground for fence/sign posts.

Used this to create tunnels for PVC conduit. It replaced the one I bought at Lowes for $20 that broke within seconds of biting into the clay. This one has multiple welds and stayed solid through out the project. Didn't warp or break.Only problem was that I couldn't find a ratchet size that fit so that I could use my impact driver. Something about the shape wouldn't fit either Imperial or Metric sizes, leaving me to use my much weaker drill.

Does fairly well after tilling probably wouldn't work well in very hard soil. Works great for mixing potting soils hasn't bent yet I abuse it. Nice that it's long easy on the back. Be careful when mixing soils to not catch the container. It can jerk your arm I use a drill with a handle now I avoid the sides with the tip. Makes lovely holes for bulbs plants.

Product works very well, just be REAL careful when using a large drill. If you happen to hit a rock or root just right it STOPS - but the drill does NOT. Ensure you have a quick reaction to let go the trigger of the drill or you can get a wrist injury. The paint on the shaft where it attaches to the drill should be removed before use in order to get a good, solid grip from the chuck. But overall, this unit saves a LOT of fencepost pounding when the soils are dry and/or hard. It's not failed yet to produce a proper hole for 6' t-posts..

I used this auger to drill about 35 holes for fence post sleeves in extremely hard, poorly drained clay soil during a drought year using a 1/2 inch hammer drill. It worked well right up until the end when the shaft snapped off at the drill chuck. When it hit even harder soil below, it would bind and the drill would torque my hands, but the auger held steady, until that happened. I continued to use it anyway and it still works, but is a little shorter. It does wobble, but that wasn't really an issue once it got into the ground a few inches. The tip and auger spirals lost paint, but otherwise held together and worked well. I may order another.

Got this for putting stakes/posts into to my hard soil. I liked this because of the length so I could drill at least a foot deep. My soil is like concrete in the dry months, and I didn't want to use a pick and shovel. The trick is to drill a starter hole and fill it with water, wait a few hours and drill again down to hard soil. Repete process to desired depth, may take a day to complete. Was now able to use a post hole digger to finish hole. Like another review stated, the hex head wears down with use, but just keep the chuck tight and it keeps digging.

This item for the price helped me dig 10post holes . It loosened the ground so my post hole digger could remove soil easily.

Nice tool for the garden. Takes a little skill in that you must go up and down gently especially if you have clay as I do. If you take your time, after a few up and down motions, the bit can handle the clay. IT knocked out 94 tomato plants in an hour and that included fertilizing , planting and watering in. Very quick work!

I was a little apprehensive to try this. I got it to dig holes in the yard for aeration. Yard is 2-3 inches of good soil. Deeper than that is clay. I waited until it rained and used this the next day. Super easy.

I'm trying to install 2 ground sleeves for fence posts, and this product seemed like it might work well to drill pilot holes. It was worth trying for the price. I ran it in a heavy-duty drill motor, and it worked great for the first foot or so, and then it hit some rocks. Same thing happened at the next two post positions. It could not get through the rocks, but it also didn't self-destruct in the process. I don't fault it for failing because I went out and got a 3-point post-hole digger for my tractor, and I still can't get through the rocks! Anyway, this tool worked as designed and held up well to abuse. I'll give it first shot at the remaining post positions because it's so easy to work with.

My drill is not very powerful but it is enough for me to put my beach umbrella in the sand without suffering. I loved that

It took about 5 minutes to get the hang of boring. Remember to go very slowly when applying pressure. When you feel it digging in pull the auger up a little to stop the digging. Spin the drill faster the bring the dirt to the surface. Then repeat. I could get about and inch of depth each time I did this.

I need to dig fence post holes about 2 feet deep into the ground. My soil is clay, compacted clay without pebbles or rocks. The clay is not dry because it has rained quite a bit for 4 - 5 weeks now.So, this product works fine for my situation, and I used a rotary hammer drill, which is much more powerful than most common household electric drills. However, I'd say the shaft needs to be at least another 1/4 inch thicker due to its 32 length. Also, if you do not have a powerful hammer drill, you should expect this would work on soft soil only. Definitely not dry compacted clay.

Planting blubs ? Yep, it will help you with that. Drilling down 2 feet to put a pipe in the ground? Yep, It will help you with that too. The only issue I have i where to store this tool when I am not using it.
