Auger is stouter than I was expecting so it should last a long time, I used it to pull corn out of storage barrels and it worked great for that. I think my ground is too rocky for holes and it would just destroy it.

Used my cordless drill to drill a bunch of 6 holes for fertilizer tree stakes. These are installed every foot or so around the drip lines of the shrub or tree. Next spring things are going to start off with a bang.

Although I've only used this bit for one hole, it felt pretty sturdy. Did the job going down about 3 ft and soil that had some rocks here and there. I think you need a good drill and to take your time pushing this into the ground.

Got this for breaking up hard clay i havefor bushes. I used a 1/2 ryobi 18 volt drill. I could see some braking a wrist using it. I was able to know arms ans wrists limits. In soft soil it would work great. It helped me with some holes breaking up compacted dirt and clay. But it wore me out holding on eventually.Be careful and know yours drills power.

I bought this thinking I wouldn't have to bend over so much when planting flower bulbs. Turns out I had to be on the ground as much as usual anyway, and I think an 8 drill bit would have worked better. This works best in hard soil. In a prepared bed of softer garden soil the bit wanders around and the sides cave in, so you need a hand spade after all.

Bought this auger to use to run a water pipe under a sidewalk where I did not want the mess of using a hose to blast out a channel under the concrete. The auger worked surprisingly well although I had to rig up an extension to make it all the way across. You just have to go slowly and frequently pull out the auger to allow debris ejection otherwise debris will accumulate in the hole and jam things up. After successfully completing the project I used the auger to help my wife plant bushes in the yard. Amazingly, the auger handled some pretty rocky and root filled soil. Yes, the hexagonal tip on the shaft sheared off but the shaft still chucked up in the drill. BTW I'm using a Milwaukee 18 v Fuel brush-less drill/driver for this with the T-handle attached. It is rugged enough to handle the punishment that would probably kill most 18v drills out there (I have no connection to Milwaukee just mentioning the brand of drill because it will take a lot of punishment). Be careful or you can strain your wrist if you hit a rock or snag. Just put the drill in reverse and then go at it again. So far I have dug 20 holes with it that are 2 feet deep and about 18 inches wide. After using the auger to loosen things up, I use a post hole digger to remove the dirt from the hole when it is 1 foot deep. Then I drill down the second foot and use the auger to loosen things up. Then add compost and fertilizer to the hole and use the auger to mix everything up. Then the plant goes in and the dirt removed in the first step is mixed with compost and fertilizer in a 5 gallon bucket with the auger and then used to fill in the gaps along the side of the plant. All the welds are solid and the shaft is still straight despite having taken a LOT of punishment. Pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of this product and how much labor it has saved (along with my back)!

Just shakes a little too much while using. Drill bit definitely gets through beach sand easily though. Just wish it was more heavy duty.

Bought it to dig holes for PVC Fishing Rod holder. Does the job extremely well. Used it with a Milwaukee Drill and large battery. Lasted the 4 day trip digging several holes for 4 fisherman moving around several times. Beats pounding the PVC rod holders into the sand. I highly recommend it.

When you use a drill, and are going in the ground, you don't want anything flimsy, and this is just right.

I have a very large, very powerful old drill and I thought this bit wouldn't last a day but I gave it a shot. It successfully drilled over 50 holes in our Rocky soil and didn't bend or break. The length is nice and long and much better than shorter auger even if they are a bit wider. Great product

Used this auger to drill 2' holes for steel fence posts for a garden fence. Used a good drill, the auger punched straight through 12' of top soil cut through 4-6' of red clay before hitting bedrock. Bed rock is prevalent and shallow in my area. The auger would break up smaller rocks as it cut, pulling up stones and rock fragments. It has held up well as I have not been gentle with it or used it for it's intended purpose.
